Hi
place where i work is on a private estate.
a lot of the companys on the estate stopped paying there rents.
due in part to flooding from the road into there place of buisness.
the estates retaliated by bringing in a private wheel clamping co.
this has been going on for a few months .
cars, lorry's ,vans, have all been clamped.
this is just a few.
van driver stopped and went into a co yard to deliver a parcel .clamped.:doh
car driver came to our place parked on road 3mins.clamped:doh
so our boss had our welder cut the clamp of with gas axe:clap
police called row started when he then sent 25 ton loading shovel to block in clampers car.:clap
then sent in a grab to help intimidate clamper ,and pointed out to him that it was night shift drivers that were blocking him in.:clap
police couldnt do any thing other than threaten to prosecute us for blocking highway and charge for damaging clamp.:doh
driving school car stopped on road while he explained how to do a 3 point turn
man pulls up nice and polite and his mate sneaks up .clamp:doh
hgv driver pulls of road onto waste land belonging to estates waakes up to find he had been clamped and cones placed all round his truck.:doh
hgv. driver stops on road checking his load clamper jumps out of van comes running up intent on clamping hgv.
Driver said to him if you come near my truck with that clamp you will get a smack. clamper pushes his luck lorry driver knocks him clean out.:clap
then rings clamp firm and said your man is unconscious next to my truck.:clap
result clampers dont want to do job anymore.:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap

brilliant, i know it's wroing but I got in a bit of bother after an argument with clampers myself once.

we had newley leased office space and the landlord employed clampers, they harrased everyone and had a £150 release fee!

one day they came and issued permits to those of us allowed to park, the next day they clamped my van with the permit in the window. I asked them 'nicley' to take if :naughty and they gladly agreed:naughty but it did end up with them calling the police :(

another one i forgot about old couple pulled onto grass at side of road while they went damson picking .
15 ft from there car up comes clamp man and side kick clamped car while other one chatted to them.:doh
£75 release fee if within 2 hrs then £150.
YPS got caught same way.his face was a picture.:doh
we are talking 4 roads of at least 6 miles in total so guess estates made some of there money back.
BELIEVE LAW CHANGES AT END OF YEAR TO OUT LAW CLAMPING ON PRIVATE LAND ALSO STOP TOWING AWAY.

Your local cops must be wuss's or theyve dropped the performance indicators.

Theres an awful lot more than obstruction and criminal damage in your acc. You were lucky , its classic public order act stuff with crim dam thrown in thats even missing off good old breach of the peace ;) :D

lmao off though :augie

Agreed there . . . . . . .

I dont agree with clamping with private companys as there in it for nothing but the cash http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/images/icons/icon13.gif

Think its going to be Council only soon :nenau

I think it should be left to Wardens / Council personally for :

No tax / insurance / un-road worthy / dumped / or repeat piss takers :thumbs

Funny story though :clap

I see in the news that new laws are being brought in to stop rogue clampers.
Thankfully up here in Bonnie Scotland clamping is illegal and not something we need to worry about.

Ever since my daughter got clamped and cost her/me £90.00 I carry a small inverter and small disc cutter, clamp will be off in less than 30 seconds, Rick

if you are not supposed to park there should be signs, so if there is and you park there your asking for trouble, the problem lies with the cowboys who are out for a quick £, licensed and regulated company's dont normally take the mick. i do know the ins and outs of this problem, my son works for a clamping company, and just one job he had, a guy came home from work and found 2 cars parks in his drive, phoned police, waste of time as usual, phoned clamping company, my boy goes round there puts up signs, next day same thing happens, he clamps them, and it turns out they were city workers who didn't want to pay for the station car park, cost £125 each, dont get me wrong i dont agree with the cost of releasing a car, but there is a major problem out there and it will get worse.

I am not infavour of clamping but if someone started parking on the driveway of your private house or on your land adjacent to your property is it not right that you have some sort of practical legal remedy.

An Aunt of mine who lived in Skegness frequently had holidaymakers paring on her open plan front driveway. A private clamping sign put a stop to that with no problems.

have you noticed

the law often only acts on these. obstruction, crim damage and my favorites public order harassment etc. when you have totally had enough and given up on the slightest chance of some actual policing in the favor of you the victim... and you have gone in to sort it yourself

then they use it on you...
because its now escalated to a bigger problem because you have reacted. but if proper policing in favor of the victim happened.

you would not need to react.

oh and disturbing the peace ... what a load of bollocks . the f..kers have disturbed my peace for years and the law did nothing. now ive had enough you want to do me

how many times you heard that ???

and thats not a personal dig. you know me

its the law its shite

most rogue clampers are just bullies, out to intimidate people for money because thats what they do best. have to say though, a legitimate clamping company is fine if the signs are there to warn people and have good reason to be there (grass verges i seriously dont think count!)

As i said this all started after companys on private estate refused to pay rent due to water flooding there premises.
the estate refused to do anything to resolve the issue .
but started the clamping to recover some of the lost revenue.
signs were put up they were black and white photocopys .
not displayed in prominant places.
