Myself, Sweety, JonatanM and a few others post on Difflock and Mudclub, offer a little advice to fellow Nissan owners but suggest they join us on here for more info - seems someone doesn't like that

There's always somebody somewhere complaining about something!!
:? :?

Maybe if people have a problem with the cost they should not join. But constant pusing of the club only irritates people, its all about personal choice at the end of the day.

However there is some club issue's internally that I think need addressing before people winge on about other clubs.

Sometimes its not what you say but how you say it.

I'm a bit shocked that someone has kicked up a fuss 8O 8O 8O If it was'nt for you HB & JonathanM advicing me to join this club I would have been a bit stuck & well out of pocket due to garage prices  A few weeks back there was a lad on mudclub that did'nt know about the ultra sonic button on tha dash & asked what it was for,so I told him & sent him a copy of the instuctions from the hand book as i've done for club members  I told him about this site & he is joining the club in the next week or so

More like 15 X-trail owners plus, thats without those that dont tell me there vehicle type when registering, I always ask but do not always get a reply.

I think the problem is they are still new ish and until they start having problems with them they are not going to find us as most of our members found us because they are having vehicle problems and don’t want to pay garage prices.

and nothing wrong with that.

Maybe if people have a problem with the cost they should not join.

What can you buy for a tenner these days - couple of gallons of diesel? As I said in another post in another thread, if something is of value then it's worth paying for. I take that view about the Nissan4x4 owners club; my GLASS membership - and I'd take that view of Wayfinder too, if it wasn't included as part of the GLASS membership package.

FWIW, I paid Nissan4x4owners club a tenner just a couple of weeks ago. I reckon I got my money's worth and more in the Derbyshire laning trip yesterday.

I've only done one up in my neck of the woods(tushielaw!) very easy lane...lol planning to do most of the fords in the borders and there is one good lane that crosses the border on a roman road.
Quite fancy that one,I'm not to far from the border,so getting to some lanes in Northumberland isn't a problem.
My pal is a gamekeeper nearby,so i manage to get my truck dirty now and again..he has a landy(sorry for swearing..lol) and i have no probs going where he goes once i take my towbar off!!
apart from one ford that i chickened out on

As i have said before in some respects I think a tenner is too cheap! I also think that if it were a free site you would get loads of problems and hassle and possibly more people than you can handle!

£10 keeps the riff raff out  most of them but I still sneaked in

Ladyinred, were you reffering to internal issues in this club, or the diff lock forum, i have got a little lost

I also think this is much more than just a forum hence the joining fee, it is the hard work of members and mods (and MAV  ) for discounts, rallies, greenlaning, offroad days, help and advice on all sorts of issues both 4x4 related and not, a real online community!

Both, Id like to really voice my issue's -banghead- but I'm as my name says I'm a lady.

I'm not digging at the mods on this site, just some of its members for there sucky attitude towards other members that happen to be members of other clubs (and other such childish whimpering) for example some of the comments made on the lane day Saturday. 'nuff said or I will rant on about it.  :x

My main point of irritation with Barny is that he uses the wording that people are being "told" to join this club, and does not see the provision of a link as being supply of information, nothing more, nothing else.

Perhaps next time I respond on Differs*, I'll say "I know the answer but you'll have to join the club, pay £10 then I'll tell you". That is telling someone to join.

*you know I won't, but I just don't like being "told" that I've "told" people to join

I see your point mate, many people may not know we are here and will be gratefull for your friendly pointer, he seems to think it is a hard sell and all bad.
I think once people are here they will see it all very differently, I like this site and dont visit any others, I like the way that issues get talked through and we have the free ranging selection of topics!

I hold my own council as some of you are fully aware if we have met, and take no prisoners if something / somebody irritates me, I pack a mean verbal punch! (or as I mature walk away)

Hummingbird didn't really need to start this thread and neither did barnyzuki on the Diff site, it just caused a rant off. These clubs, be it the Difflock, CORC, Nissan or any others shouldn't deviate from what the club is about, going out on lanes, nice company (sometimes) driving skills, mechanical help etc... (and I see the culprit has not been back on and posted since, maybe he's gone to find a bigger spoon to stir the pot with)

You have obviously not met Me or My Dad, not that I think I'm missing anything.
Those who have offended me should know who they are and I'm not going to PM them and start a petty PM "he said she said" I'm a better person.

And Plank was only jesting with me, which made me smile, and I'm sure me Dad wont mind, even if he does, I'm an adult not a child.

Note to Mods: Maybe this thread should be closed or moved? Its kinda pointless now... even i'm bored with it, and I can talk / laugh / bicker for England.

Don't know if I am speaking out of turn here, but to spend a tenner compared to what is spent on the upkeep, modifications, running of a 4x4 on a yearly basis? Surely that is not something to be moaning about? Hell, my kids cost me more than that in an hour!!!

Define normal ???

Have you taken the thought that its because we were brought up properly and there are children and not just adults on this site.
Yes sometimes political correctness is taken too far, but in the case if swearing I'm sure some of you have a far better vocabulary that to use such toliet talk, when there is no need, however some of you can't even spell check let alone watch what what you say, so maybe not.

COTAG = Community Offroad Transport Action Group.

The only 4x4 response group used by and approved of by the police and emergency services. The Moray group is up and running and the Aberdeenshire group is busy being established. We should be up and running about half way through next year.

If anybody here is in Scotland and is interested in joining, give me a shout and I will get hold of the guys and put you in contact with them.

Its not. Wessex, the whole of Norfolk/Suffolk (under about 6 Response groups) NE and Humber-Yorks all working with blue light services. We're in Emergency plans, sorted with out of hours doctors to provide standby cover if weather threatens let alone happens - even got permission to use NHS logo now and looks like we'll be issued with green lights when needed.

Di9fflock club looks good dont it???not as good as this one!

I agree with Ladyinred, this club has a very mixed membership I believe and if all the other froums are full of all sorts of bad language and stuff then it can be an oiasi in a winderness of ruffians that many 4x4 owners would find intimidating!

As i said before if we want people to turn up as families as rallies they have to feel it will be a nice place to take the kids and the only way they will feel that is if we all behave in a reasonably adult manner on here!

Am i understanding this right, we are to PC?, may be i should switch of the word sensor for a week and see how it goes!, may be no one will complain or comment about it and we can leave it switched off.

I am not going to keep every single one of our members happy but if you can tell me how this is done please let me know.

Do we have to be the same as every other 4x4 club?.

May be i try to hard and too easy going, i don’t know.

P.s. Because some people dont know when to shut up i have lost one of my best members as they have decided to take a back seat, Not only a member but someome that is a friend and someone i feel i can turn to for advice.

a shame to close it when Mav has proposed some interesting questions,

Mav, no no need to be the same as everyone else! in fact perhaps it is the difference that is this clubs strenghts!

I see no need to turn off the auto censor as it does set auto ground rules that the majority seem happy with!

Can't comment on the member and friend as not knowing exactly who and why but. i think it can be easy to take things personaly when there is a disppute going on between members on screen, a dispute that like many often sorts itself out given enough time! There are situations that need taking charge of yer, but I feel that some of these have been jumped on a ittle too hard and too fast and it has inflamed things rather than cooled them!

think this then leads to more resentment and frustrations and the issue gets blown out of all proportion when it could have been settled by being left alone! I do have an example in mind but best not to re open old settled issues on line as it would take things down the wrong route.

SIMPLY PUT - just keep going as you are and try not to let the occasional dispute get you down mate, as it is nothing personal

Exactly Jim and we dont need to swear to make a point, I think if you let it become an anthing goes situation you get dragged to the lowest common denominator. In this club's case membership comes at two prices £10 and good manners, and in return you get sound advice and an non threatening envirnonmnet where you feel safe to air your views, and able take you family to meet other members without oncerns over what you are getting into!
