View Full Version : Hey Mav
While i am thinking like this, Whats going wrong with this club? I have spoke to 4 members within the past few days and checked out a couple of other 4x4forums and theres talk of people/members going on face book more than going on here and members talking of not renewing there membership!.
Whats going on, oh sorry about being off topic but it looks as people dont give a toss any more about what happens.
Mav.
I have replied to your comments here rather than in the thread that you posted this in as I feel this merits its own thread.
The active membership is growing on a daily basis, by active I am referring to members that actually log on regularly and not just an out of date list of people that joined and never returned ;)
We have had 276 new registrations in the last 2 months :clap
The feedback that I regularly receive is that the club in general is a much more relaxed place than it previously was under the old regime. Maybe the ones that no longer frequent don’t like this new approach :nenau fortunately they are certainly in the minority.

mavs was good clean nice and helpfull i liked it
bats is good too but i get less technical help, i know i like a laugh and a chat , but the tech stuff has gone down hill
when you're used to one set up it's sometimes a bit difficult to get used to another one ....
Sorry extreme I dont think the tec stuff has gone
I am learning all the time when I READ THE THEADS.
Perhaps you have out grown the site not tec enough for your extreme off roading:lol:thumbs
This club still has it all just different people:nenau

It a good all round club:thumbs
Looking forward to the national meet sounds like a good all round fun and there is a bar for a chat:lol:lol:lol
How about a Quizz?:)
sorry to say this but its been bugging me now for a while now has any of you other members from your other site joined this club and if so did they pay for their membership fee's and im only asking not nit picking.

Hi Bat can I ask are these new members full members (payed up) or a mix of both:confused:Just that this info would give a clearer picture due to the older site only having full members
My 2p's worth, why is the "I'm new here, please be gentle" section now being used for tec questions without the mod team moving them to the right section? (Sorry if this rocks the boat but.. not much point in having the sections if we can post anywhere..)

Thats my point, now adays theres no house keeping shown to be done, don't get me wrong, the site as again started to evolve as things do, but not all change is for the better.

If its not broke don't mend it:)
I think the people here keep it under control and if it needs more it will happen don't you think:)

Most of the people on the other site were already members here before I took over, all the 276 new registrations are new folk that have found us.

Less than a dozen have become paid up members, as I have said before I want people to become fully paid up members because they want to and not (as before) because they have to. I feel it was wrong to expect people to pay for something before they could see what they were getting.
My 2p's worth, why is the "I'm new here, please be gentle" section now being used for tec questions without the mod team moving them to the right section? (Sorry if this rocks the boat but.. not much point in having the sections if we can post anywhere..)
The tech sections are only viewable to club members hence the reason the newbies are asking their questions in the "I'm new here, please be gentle" section. The idea being that we make them feel welcome and hopefully they join up.... having said that I can see your point :thumb2

The point is if members post questions anywhere but in the right section, the it's as you put it "broke" not being funny but if I am looking to see if someone as the same problem as me I look in the tec section, if I am looking if someone is over here in the northwest I look in that section, not just take pot luck and pick a section to take a look in and hope what I am looking for is there, if thats the case I may as well just use Google.

:thumb2Well that's bloody clever That works out at 34 .5 people each week So there is a half person some where on the site ( would you please come out and be counted kind regards
There you go when its needed its here:lol:thumbs

So can't it be told to them that we can/will help alot more if they pay into the club, as it will help to make the club grow.

Less than a dozen have become paid up members
Thanks for that Bat:thumbsFrom what I can remember the club used to get about 2-4 new members a week (fully paid up) so TBH that side of things the numbers have dropped but on the other hand the club has gained more free members

I think 3 of the registrations were dwarfs :D

None members see a flashing banner that when clicked links to this (http://www.nissan4x4ownersclub.com/forum/payments.php)

Yes but on the old site you HAD to pay to be a member before you could see anything, many of the so called old members that had parted with their hard earned cash never came back after just one day, the new members that are joining up now are doing so because they want to..... I'd have never slept at night leaving it the way it was when I took over

In my humble opinion the site is now far better than before.
You'll never please everyone, so keep it up B21 dont let the buggars get you down.http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg43/dadba/Dec%2007%20to%20Dec%2008/dadba1/Emoticons/eusa_clap.gif

Take a step back everyone and have a think.
Perhaps both sites had different qualities? certainly both contain or contained stacks of usefull info.
If there's a particular post that you don't like just ignore it.
If you or others ask a technical question it usually gets answered.
After the spat the other week posts are not getting hijacked in the same way and fun stuff or chatting is being kept to the pub area. Just look at last nights post about having a drink, it kept the site busy without contaminating the tech stuff.
We all thanked Mav for running such a cracking site so lets hope we'll be able to do the same for Bat. I'm sure neither Mav or Bat have a great time of it trying to keep everyone happy.
Right that's my tuppance hapeni

With all due respect, I think one bone of contention is that "Stone-wall" long time members had to pay their tenners before getting any help with truck problems, whereas people can now come on site and get help and information for free. Maybe such help should be "diluted", but as a member of both the old and new versions of the club I have found BOTH to be invaluable in keeping my truck happy, and the friendly banter to be a source of great humour.
Maybe a "Think-Tank" of suggestions could be sent in by members regarding the way ahead for keeping the club a successful happy family of Nissan & Maverick truck owners, so come on guys and gals, what do you think ?
My understanding of the new sites moderation was to be more relaxed and only intervine if a topic was getting seriously out of hand, i may be mistaken on this.
also when i joined this club originally there was a section open to non members who were allowed to ask a tech question... and it was answered with out hessitation and at end if the question it was ponted out that joining the club would offer them invaluable resources. if they tried to ask another tech question on the free section it was not answered but they were advised to join to get the answers and it proved to be a good formula.
if this is to be continued on the new site than i request BAT to leave a stickey on the open sections a " read me before posting" explaining the options available in the open section. i.e. we offer limited assistance there and in order to availe of the full use of the club membership is needed!
As seems to be happening more and more on here, have 1 forum and bin the rest save on server space because whatever you post somebody hijacks it.

:eek:£20 are you having to pay twice the price because your motor is twice the size of most motors on here:naughty:lol:lol
I think this site in is getting better day by day.
It's like the old site but newer if you get my meaning. It's like a whole new club.
The owner and the mods are doing a fantastic job with leaving the threads to run there course. If you notice most altercations have ended with hands being shaken and no grudges.
Like Jim said if you want to read them it's your choice.
The old way was poo and caused more harm than good.
Things will start off slow with events etc but will get going as more peeps get confident. (And money gets a little easier)
To the good times ahead..and leave the past where it belongs.:clap:clap:clap
Liked the old formula with Mav at the Helm, and got to be honest took a bit of getting used to the "new" regime. However all seems to be well relaxed and any spats quickly settled. Think its good that people can post a tech problem before becoming a full member, like try before you buy type of thing:thumbs. then they should be encouraged as before by telling them the benefits of full membership.
keep up the good work:clap:clap:clap
