"If we find evidence of where it came from we will be taking legal action to recover the costs of removal - whatever that may be."

Fly Tipping

We used to get a council skip on our road a few times a year in the summer that you could use for free.

Also they used to collect stuff like sofas and matresses f.o.c. from your home provided you did not use the facility more than 2 or 3 times a year.

Now that has all been axed about 10 years ago and guess what ?

We have fly tipping near the local school playing fields!

Any joined up thnking in our local council ?

Cause and effect ?

Bit funny to blame it on illegal travellers. Do they travel with dump trucks, or so? As with most flytipping sites, it probably started small. And when people (any kind of people) see there is no control or punishment, the site will quickly grow.

When people want things removing from their house, rubbish, house clearances, asbestos garages, they often get several quotes, and due to financial pressure opt for the cheapest without doing any research.

I would never contract someone who's only method of contact is a mobile phone, they could be anyone, working from anywhere, and could be somewhere else tomorrow. I am talking about roof repairs, tree cutting, tarmac drives as well as waste disposal.

I want a land line, an address and in the case of waste disposal, I would want to see their licence.

There are a lot of tipping trucks that can dump their several tonne load in a few minutes or less, so catching them in the act is rather difficult without covert surveillance.
I think the general public are often to blame for encouraging the fly tippers, and the councils could be doing more to help.

One of our lanes was plagued with tyre dumping, and also trees and tree stumps, the local council cleared it up many times, and in the end they actually closed the road to traffic. This worked and stopped all dumping in this lane :clap:clap:clap a result.
However....
You don't have to have more brain cells than a gold fish to expect that that the fly tippers just moved onto the next lane down the road...:doh
The Council didn't see that one coming...:doh

The problem really started when the local councils charged for trade waste, and despite the waste being collected from homes, is in theory domestic waste, if you or I took it in tbe car, or a small trailer, then there would be no charge.

It is also a problem on the Norfolk Broads, there were may skips/bins available for boater's waste, and then this was recently designated as trade waste, and so the local councils have removed these facilities in many places as the cost is more expensive. So where do boaters "dump" their waste?
Sometimes they place their waste next to full bins, now this is also "fly tipping":doh

So the council are picking up a bigger tab overall to clear up, than their initial cost of providing the facility in the first place. Short term thinking or what...
This in my opinion, applies to most councils too.

I have trouble with fly tippers but because its private land council arent interested and nor are the police even though its illegal

load of b******s that it was all dumped over night:lol:lol
probably been going on or years by the look of that lot.

Nail on the head I think :thumb2

And to Cncfabs (shotgun time I think) :lol

I see it all the time amd it infuriate me. The really stupid thing is Im convinced some of it is people in cars, you can still take your car along to the local council disposal points and tip your rubbish for free. No more effort to do this is it. Obviously some of it is traders too and all they are doing is avoiding hefty charges to dump legally. Personally theres no excuse just like dropping litter, Ive always taught my children to carry litter withnthem until they find a bin. The same with teenagers that I supervise too.
