well managed to get the welding done today so I have 12months and 3ish weeks till next 1 :thumbs just to let any1 else no when I spoke to the tester bout corrosion around the front body mount the 1 by the steering box as mine has a rusty hole in it he said its not a fail u have to have less than 75% of the body mounts ok any less and its a fail so if the lwb has 10 might be wrong 2 can have rusty holes and not fail:thumb2

that is interesting and common sense on a T2 as it has a chassis, but would like to see it in writing, Rick

well that's what my tester said to day gave an advisory for the rusty hole o/s/f body mount and he said its in the book saying you got to have 75% or more on the body mounts

Mine failed with two rusty mounting points.
You might want to remind him of Reason for Rejection, Point 2 on this page (http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s06000101.htm), extracted straight from the manual.
"Any deliberate modification, excessive corrosion, damage, cracks or inadequate repair of a load bearing body or chassis member which seriously affects its strength within 30cm of the body mountings."
The body mount is a load bearing body member.
Where else is the load of the body being transferred to the chassis other than the mounts?! :lol

The problem is that you have to drive this car for 12 months without further inspection. Now having looked at some vehicles on here, some have rapidly deteriorated to the point of being unsafe well before the next MOT, I would rather have any structural issues sorted so that the car is up to full strength, you never know what idiot is around the next corner.
It would be like one of the Laurel and Hardy films, brake hard and the body shoots forward leaving the chassis behind.:doh:doh
That's another fine mess you've gotten me into...:doh
Although the outcome could be more serious..
