a tenner spent on here is well spent, one small tip can save a lot on silly little repairs that you may have taken your vehicle to a garage to be done, and instead you get done! and you don't get much at a garage for ten quid, except maybe a sharp intake of breath!!

may be so but if they go they take knowledge with them that may save them money in the future, even if it's just how to change a bulb or bleed a clutch.

Just been looking at the membership, and there certainly are more Red members, ie joined but not paid their £10 than ever before.

Only a few have ever posted.
Maybe they just wanted to look at the club to see what it's about, they have not yet had the benefit of being a full member, perhaps we ought to stop them getting access to the important areas, like Briggies jokes. :lol :lol

Like in every sales role, if you have a lead you tend to follow it up, has anyone contacted these people to encourage them to consider joining the club if they still have a suitable vehicle?
Do we know what they think of the club?
Has there ever been a survey?

Don't offer them cheap membership, or we'll all want it. :nenau

Are we happy with the current number of fully paid up members?

I don't mind replying to these people, after all we are all enthusiastic about our 4x4's, and if we can help someone along the way..:thumb2

I notice that a lot of our full members do promote the club, and offer the benefits of full membership which is great, but it is clear that some members are not aware of the Status of some of the "Junior" members.

Lets turn these leads into sales.....:thumb2

just a thought. :thumbs

It's more a case of no interest from our leader & lack of activities & not just off road.!
Yes there is / was knowledge on here but it is no longer a 4x4 forum :(
All we get on here 90% of the time now is joke's & pointless thread's about what song move's you  :nenau

So unless there is interest from our leader & it get's back to being a 4x4 forum then the member's will keep on going as I won't be renewing & I know a few more that won't be :(

Well, I think it's gone a bit quiet at the moment because it's summer holiday season! As for the technical stuff, I think just about everything is covered in the downloads sections :nenau

there are still lots of technical threads just look at the 'todays posts' link.

As for 4x4 stuff what do you want?

"i drove in some mud that was this deep!"

"no mine was deeper"

or maybe -

"My tyres have more tread than yours"

"my lift kit is higher"

I think the site does well and caters for the wider tastes of it's members not just all about the cars! And I enjoyed the 'what song moves you' thread and going by the number of posts so did a lot of people.

I remember when we had some very unsavoury threads that led to all kinds of problems and the I recall a few members who are currently dissatisfied with the 4x4 content thinking they were OK :augie

There are some valid points you raise though, perhaps a life time membership, or a free sticker would be a good idea :thumb2

well ive joined plenty of general 4x4 clubs and tbh most end up be landy clubs with a
few others seen as odd ones out. have nothing against landies, have had them and
would again as 2nd, or 3rd motors but do get tired of the deluded owners that cant
see they dont have the best all round vehicles. mind perhaps i'm deluded to them!

never been able to get as much info about the nissans as here. typically if you ask
something even a nissan sub group the answer is head over here!

Let me see
£10 = repair/mod info for 1 year
£25 plus= one day pay and play
Drive through mud for one day has to be = £40+
Free 4x4 forum, hours on PC trying to find correct info @ £6 per hour
Members spannering for free= priceless
Pub banter (cheaper than pub and no risk of a punch up)= priceless
Mini filter download has to be +£10 at garage rates

Probably not a perfect forum, but like life, some people get a lot out of it and others don't. Best I can say is, after being a member on POCUK, it's damn hard finding relevant info on there, even using the search function. Can't speak for other forums other than POCUK but I think it is easier to get help on here. Regarding the lack of organised events, that's not an exclusive problem on here, try organise anything and see how hard it is to get people to commit. Can't see why people can't go on their own if they want a day out, unless it's so they can brag about how good they are at driving off road. At the end of the day, it's only a tenner, and I bet if it was free people would still complain. The only bit I don't like about this forum, is people complaining about what it doesn't have, if it doesn't suit your needs, why not just wander off into the sunset, quietly? Chances are you won't be missed.:(

well, I think its worth a tenner easy. Paid mine happily. I dont get half the comments in this thread. Theres sections for particular questions and sections for banter. I find each one with relevent information in it, and lots of it, whats the issue? I didnt realise some people expected specific and limited 4x4 related stuff on here, whats theproblem with a bit of joking and regular banter? doesnt that help us get to know each other a bit, make friends?
Ive made a few friends, again, well worth paying a tenner to get the full access that brought them to me.
The positives on this site far out weigh the silly negatives I keep reading about, if there is anything there is too much of on this site, is people whinging about stuff they think shouldnt be here. give it a rest. If there isnt enough technical stuff for you to read about one day, dont complain that theres more jokes, post somert technical then? fact is, this site has gotit covered in terms of know how, jesus, you can find a fix for everything, this means the site can be more relaxed and open itself up to a lot more than "hey look at me and my muddy tyres"

I need a kip.

the technical sections are over to the left of this page under site navigation if you wish to peruse those ,

alternatively there is often discussions on various issues and problems in the threads

it is after all a forum .... ie a community of people with a shared interest and as such there is bound to be disagreements and differences of opinion , but in general its a fun place to be , and very helpfull

Well my membership will be renewed, this forum is similar to another i regularly go on,

http://www.clarets-mad.co.uk/

Though a football fansite the content is very much a slice of everyday life, it`s people with similar interests often sounding of about random things, getting random replies but with the benefit of knowing technical help is always available. Ok some aspects could be improved but if there is something missing surely you can post about what is missing and get what you want.
Sorry if this post is a bit incorrect grammatically but just got out of bed and my brain hasn`t fully engaged yet.

I also like the fact that we have a range of back grounds, abilities, knowledge and of course experience.

If I need advice on issues, I tend to post first on here.

Topics that have been discussed are things like:
Home insurance can save 100's
Car insurance, and pit falls by experience, can save 100's.
Computer issues, crashes and viruses have saved many members scores of pounds.
Which is the best Net book. Saves frustration and a few pounds.
Which is the best dongle for remote access of laptops and computers etc.
How to Tile floors.
Security at home.
Open discussions on current affairs.
It was on this site that I found out that News of the World was closing.
Maximum trailer weight / speed etc
Best caravan.
Rust prevention.
How and where to pick up skills, like welding.
Problems with other vehicles, can save a lot on reliability issues.
.....

The list goes on.

Then there's Briggies jokes.

I rest my case...

I think the whole forum has become more like a facebook type forum rather than a 4x4 forum.

I have said on here & other forum's that for mechanical help you can't & won't beat the knowledge & upload's on here :bow :clap

But the thread's in general don't relate to 4x4's.

I'm not just talking about Green Laning & Pay'n'Play site's, even the Tin Tent banter has died of death...

We are all individual's with our own opinion's & SHOULD be aloud to share them without being BARED or DELETED.

The "BAR" should be open to all topic's as long as there isn't excessive swearing / porn etc.
But it isn't :nenau

Make use of the "Chat Box" so it clear's after the set time...

The floor to the club is no National / Regional or Local meet's.
I tried as did extreme-4x4 to no avail :nenau

I tried & it wasn't just Green Laning, shooting, Go-Karting, Pub meet's but nothing...

Wrong Bazza, I don't wonder why people don't bother paying their tenner. I do wonder why some people make a song and dance about paying a tenner for membership, calculated over the 365 day year, it works out at 0.273972602739726 pence per day. For God's sake, even having the chance to reply to your post is worth that, a stamp would cost me more, probably costs more than that to even start a T2. I have scratched my head about the fuss some people make over paying a tenner a year to the point where I have very little hair left:eek: I normally just have a good laugh with my mates about some of the posts on here, I decided to reply to this one because the tenner membership obviously winds people up a bit and it's interesting to see who sides with who.:naughty This thread is even better than Briggie's jokes.:D:D Keep smiling:kissy

As we forgive those that trespass on us,
And lead us not unto illegal closures
But deliver us from Land Rovers
For thine is the clearance,
The articulation,
And traction for ever and ever.
Amen

Wrong Bazza, I don't wonder why people don't bother paying their tenner. I do wonder why some people make a song and dance about paying a tenner for membership, calculated over the 365 day year, it works out at 0.273972602739726 pence per day. For God's sake, even having the chance to reply to your post is worth that, a stamp would cost me more, probably costs more than that to even start a T2. I have scratched my head about the fuss some people make over paying a tenner a year to the point where I have very little hair left:eek: I normally just have a good laugh with my mates about some of the posts on here, I decided to reply to this one because the tenner membership obviously winds people up a bit and it's interesting to see who sides with who.:naughty This thread is even better than Briggie's jokes.:D:D Keep smiling:kissy

if cash is that tight you can't afford a tenner a year your knacked anyway

phewww what a thread, only popped in to see how everyone is.
i see your all well and happy.

just a note though, just because i chose not to retaliate or join in with the issues, does not make the comments from last year from adam right or pleasent for that matter,
maybe just maybe, i found the comments not worthy of retaliation , in the grand scale of things, a few words on a screen (that i can decide if i read or not ) are really not worth loosing any sleep over .

and yes i used to spend hours on here every day trying to help the club/ forum and put something back into it , to make up for all the help and support i received from the club, im happy. life is sweet. and now i just pop in occasionally to have a read. i made some cracking friends on here and clearlly one enemy. but hey sh it happens .

my advise to anyone who falls out on an internet forum is . let it go , get over it. who gives a crap . i know i dont ... i most likely wont even get to read any replies to this it'll be weeks before i come back on !

see you all again as and when i pop in :D

Forums need to have a turnover to remain healthy, because change is de facto in everyone's lives. The amount of info & contacts on here have saved me hundreds and shed some light on other people's way of life, which is never a bad thing.

I paid last renewal & I'll pay me next, because I know that if I need 4x4 help or advice on anything, the community here will help in every way they can.

And that alone is worth supporting.

the £10 " membership fee " is a contribution to a community , not just a forum ,it shows you are willing to be a part of a fantastic community.

just my view incidently

I may have grumbled at first, but I think it stops people jumping on google, signing up to a forum, finding what they need and deserting the membership. This way we develop a strong and ever growing community of like minded people all willing to reciprocate.
