see very slow!!!!!!

I've used these two stroke gennys before. They are OK and seem to run the odd power tool. Not too noisy. They usually have a plastic measuring cup on the inside of the fuel cap and as far as I can remember it's one cup full of oil to one tank of petrol. I have a friend with one and he keeps it in a shed and brings it once or twice a year and it starts each time. B&Q do them for about the same price, some of them even have 12v battery charging inbuilt. They are not the most stable of outputs so don't go running anything sensitive off it, I've seen them running TV's.

Bought one similar a couple of years ago and it did my head in. was on a site just on our own it was the scarbough meet when we did langdale quest.

I had it full cable length away think cables are 25mts and I could hear it when watching tele. When I went outside I felt like I was violating the world.

Yes quiet in comparison to other larger genny's but when your in a field in the middle of nowhere and it's so peacefull you can hear a squirrel fart you stick it on and wow your in a battle zone. I've never used it since.

The most important thing I needed it for was the tele kettle and fridge work best on gas.

My 2nd idea was an 12v - 240 inverter that worked fine with a 110 battery and would last a weekend.

3rd and best idea was a 12v 10" dvd tele the type you stick in the back of the car best I got was 5 days and nights in the winter tele on every night 2 films a night.

Personally after going down that road I would not recomend if worried take an extra battery.

How many have bought these jenny's and used very little????

Bought one of aldi's cheapo's a couple of years ago and it was total rubbish.

After using it a few times the starter recoil failed:doh

I ended up buying a euro generator with a honda engine off ebay and it has been brilliant, starts 1st pull:thumb2

You only get what you pay for.

If you want a cheapo, have a look at the Wolf range, better quality than the real cheap crap.

:)

Aldi regularly have a 2.5 or 2.8kVa gennie for sale for about £200 notes. A fair bit more I know but a lot more use and 4 stroke 2.

They're available all over as well in different packging etc. I've got a couple of them. Dinky took one to last years rally (for those that were there) not sure what it got used for in particular. Mine will not only run a domestic kettle but I've run one of those big water urns they use in burger vans etc off it before when at events with the 4x4 Response group, cope fine with that.

Stuff from Aldi comes with aguarentee and from my experience the one time I've used it it was great. Bought a mig welder. The wire went through the sheathing firt time and all jammed up, took it back and they exchanged it there and then. If the stuffs no longer in store you have to ring a central helpline number but I've no reason to think they will be any different. All the stuff Aldi sells comes round and round so they will always be able to access replacememnts or spares.

Was looking at one ofthose the other day, only thing that put me off is the size will take up alot os space in the back of the Mav.:doh
May be able to get a 4 stroke one from a lad at work, (if he can find it) :lol

Got one just like for macro 3years back 950w still going strong
Rally's and touring trips cant beet it.
Yes would like a larger one but cant warrant the extra Size and weight thats all.

Just been sent this from good old Adli,
http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/58_8781.htm?WT.mc_id=2009-02-02-13-58

Any good for the price?

I've got one very similar but it's a 950w, i used it mainly for topping the battery up when on holiday. When we're away for the weekend i use 2 110Ah batteries in parallel so no real need for a genny. I found it to be very quiet compared to some, at a holiday meet in cornwall last year there was a guy with a suitcase generator that blasted the whole site out!!! i thought they were meant to be silent:eek:

£65 is a good price, i'd go for it.
