the blower fan on my 2003 x-trail is no longer working
would this be the resistor or something else ?
If it is the resistor, where is this located on the x-trail.

any advice much appreciated

cheers

Hi GraemeNI,

Firstly, do you have manual or automatic air conditioning? If it is manual will the blower work on number 4 setting?

the blower does not work at all, even on setting 4
the a/c is automatic i think - you set the temp on a digital display using up/down keys

cheers

It sounds like you have climate control :? could you set it to say 18'c & it would stay at that temp :?:

Toolbox,

pls ignore the last post (total rubbish!)

the fan does not work on any setting.
the temp is set using a rotary dial and the display is digital.
the system can be switched between auto and manual but this makes no difference to the fan (does'nt work in either mode).

hope this is clear

cheers

Sweety,

Yes - i do have climate control.

(pls note I was referring to my last post as total rubbish)

It doesn't matter what temp it is set at - the fan does not function.

The first thing to do and the simples place to start, is to check the fuses. As far as I can tell from looking at the diagram there is an 80 amp fuse that is the main power supply to the blower relay this should be under the bonnet, I wouldn’t think this one would not be gone though. There are then two 15 amp fuses number 19 & 24. If you have an owners manual these should be listed in it.

When you push the blower switch does it show the speeds changing on the display even though the blower isn’t working, I think the picture of the fan lights (or rather reveres video) a blade for each press (speed)

If all the fuses are ok then I think there is an auto diagnostic procedure for automatic air conditioning (climate control) that you could try next.

Toolbox,

i checked small fuses already and these are ok

display shows fan speed increasing as the button is pressed even though fan not working

thks,

GraemeNI
