Hello, the ongoing problem of shakking 03 3.7 TDi continues, but we're getting there!
Part of the problem is defo the wheels refusing to stay balanced, so new tyres it is, but the shaking when going over bumps and the kick when the engine stops is still with us, and we think it might be the engine mounts.
The car is an 03 2.7 and it's got 55k on the clock. It's been off road twice in it's life, however I do live in rural Ireland so most roads are like greenlanes!
Now, comparing mine to my wifes, which is a SWB 01, my engine kicks a lot more when turned off, it's notciable when laying under it and watching, the engine, gearbox and gubbins shake quite a bit. The mechanic has compared the mounts on both cars and says mine are defo softer than the 01, but he says they are still pretty firm.
So, question is, are engine mounts on 03 dying pretty early in life a known problem? Or for that matter is it normal for them to go soft at 55k and about 5 years?
Is there anything else I should look at that is obvious to you lot?
Regards
Steve
