im not sure if something is wrong , which is why im asking your advice ...it seems as though the rear of my car is a bit " wobbly " ..ok it has a relatively heavy wheelchair ( plus batteries ) in it , but surely it should cope with that ? ,ive tried the best i can to press down on the back end then release ( as someone suggested ) , but it seems ok ......could it be my tyres ( bridgestone duellers h/t ) or perhaps wet roads ... or something more sinister ? .

have your tyres looked at.

i had use of a rover 216, its tyres were egg shaped not round.

tyres look good zippy , plenty and i mean plenty of tread on them

it doesnt feel like a " up and down " issue ... its more like a " side to side " issue if that makes sense :nenau

Start with the obvious, loose wheel nuts, buckled wheel, low tyre pressures, shocks, then onto suspension, worn bushes.

could be rear anti roll links, certainly could be tyres, but my moneys on rear anti roll links-had same in my mazda, new links sorted that out and been fine since I had them done 3 years ago.

my original plan was to save up for a oem rad .so i could get rid of the one i have ( a manual rad with no oil cooler ) and also get rid of the massive oil cooler bolted to my car ... but ..... thats postponed now lol :lol

If it does turn out to be the rear anti roll bar links dinna fret..they are cheap to acquire on fleabay

and a very straight forward job to do...even if you have to get a garage to do them for you it should't take em more than half an hour to put them on.

Warn bush on PANARD ROD will let the chasis move fron side to side over the axle.

Rear end wobble

What holds the rear axle in place on your motor ?

On my R3mR it was the upper short link arms that hold the upper part of the axle in place has yours got these ?

Made a new motor of when I had mine done.

I had a polybush set fro Milner off road, they also do polybush kit for the ARB links.

im not really worried yet , it just seems a bit more " bouncier " than it used to , and can be a bit hairy around corners in the wet , ive checked the tyre pressures ..... 33 psi in both fronts .... 34psi rear os... 33 near side rear .... all changed to 33 now

Do you have sticker on the door frame on the front drivers side or somewhere similar that tells the correct pressure for the tyres. 33 sounds a bit high. Sticker on mine says 26 front and rear with no load and 29 rear with load.

Wobbly Bum

My R3mR would let go at the back end in heavy rain to the extent I would always engage 4WD in the rain. I thought it was the stone age rear suspension design & diesel torque!

I wrongly put it down to the Ford Cortina type solid rear axle design. It got slowly worse over 18 months until the Missus even noticed it was twitchy at the rear end.

That's what prompted me to get it sorted. Her indoors went to France in the truck last weekend and she reported it as being like a new motor !

When I am back at work & driving again I am going to do the other four bushes on the long suspension arms. The guy at Milner Off Road says it will make the truck more car-like in its feel / handling dept:

why not change the bushes in the panard rod at the same time, see manual on C/D.

Not sure what the Panhard rod actualy does if I am honest it just looks like a big diagonal ARB type thingy to me ?

Its the only thing in the entire rear suspension that stops the axle moving side to side.
