Did the winch people not give you any info on this Mike?.

If not i would ring up one of the which people and ask as if you were thinking of buying one and would like some information first before going ahead.

Hi Mav,

To be honest I haven't recieved the winch yet i only ordered it the other day from TRB so i do not know what will come in the package?

I beleive usual practice is not to fude the supply to the winch itself - any and all control circuitry should be fused. People often fit a cut out in the live feed so as to isolate the winch when not in use.

415 amp cable should be fine that is 4980w at 12v, which is approximately 6.5hp - the winches motor is rated at 4.6hp (not sure if that is in or out though).

Hello MadMike,

I take it you got your 10% off the total cost from TBR for being a member of this club!.

I didn't find out about the 10% discount from the club until after ordering it, but luckly I had a 10% off voucher out of their catalogue that i picked up at the indoor 4x4 show at Donnington so i used that. I will use the club discount next time I order with them thats for sure.

I haven't put an inline fuse on mine, or my previous winch,
I do have a 10 amp spade fuse on the control circuit.

The problem is: you could peak over a 1000amps at least, so a type "D" motor rated resetable fuse maybe suitable, if your really worried.
Last thing you want is nuisance tripping when you really need it.

Just make sure your cables are protected from getting the insulation rubbed off and then leaking to earth.
I have spirax wrapped around my cables.
