Driving along and the window wipers both front and rear keep coming on randomly. After a quick fiddle with the key it sorts itself out but just on the way back from work it wouldn't stop.

Are the wipers directly connected to the ignition barrel or is it possible I'm knocking a cable under the shroud which is making a contact with something?

Sure that's a known issue, just can't recall what! Probably a dodgy relay somewhere though.

did it on mine i just sprayed a load of wd40 in the relays and gave them a clean up of the green stuff that had built up

Relays where? Aux Fusebox in engine bay or man fusebox below steering column

None of the above has worked

This is def an issue with the actual stalk in the steering shroud as If I play with it for a bit it sorts itself out. I've had the plug out the back and WD40'd it up and also checked the cables for damage and wear and they appeared fine

I forgot to mention that it's both front and rear wipers that come on

At the moment I've been driving round with the fuses out :lol good job the weathers good

Are they easy to remove or do they remove as a pair?

Are individual parts dead easy to remove. remove the shroud then either clipped in or screwed there are 3 different types depending on year.

Not sure, but be careful of the air bag if you have to remove the steering wheel, I'm sure some one will be along soon with all the info :thumbs

Thanks for the sensible answer :lol:lol

Any way I can sort it out or is it time for a new one?

Just to let you all know, it was in fact a dodgy wiper stalk which I have now fixed with magic mr soldering iron :D
