Hi guys, can anyone give me some advice about how to replace the window switch on my 54 plate truck please. Does this plate pictured below unclip or do I need to remove the door card.

Cheers

I've had the drivers door switches out and that just clipped in. I would say it'll be the same. A metal spring clip each end if I remember correctly.

Cheers Ian, dead easy as it turns out it clips at the front of the panel and then the rear of it has a lug that hooks underneath the armrest.

Perfect. I need to take mine out too. Sometimes work, sometimes don't:nenau

I actually bought a replacement from CNCfabs way back when we bought the truck but have been putting it off as I was expecting to have to remove the whole door card. I'm going to keep the old switch and treat it to some switch contact cleaner, to be honest I'm guessing that's probably all it needs.

Feeling a lot happier about the truck now.

Hey Jim. Don't do what I just done and remove the bit you push and pull. Cos the spring or whatever was in there whistles past never to be seen again:doh
You can take the switch out of the surround and then remove the part the wires plug into and get some contact cleaner in there. I've put mine back together and it now works fine, but doesn't spring back to the middle:(
Idiot:banghead:

People tell me that my fear of springs is irrational. I tell you it's not! :D

Oops :lol

You didn't happen to notice if the switch has a bulb inside to illuminate it?

I heard it clatter up the corner of the garage and I've had the whole lot out, found things I'd forgotten I had, but no sign of anything that might be switch like? Trouble is I don't even know what I'm looking for :nenau
I did find a carburetor of a 1987 1.6 Vauxhall Cavalier.:lol

The worst switch for exploding into a thousand pieces has to be the one for the electric mirros near to your right knee.

Hands up if one of those has ever gone on you when you've opened it!!!!

:doh :doh :doh :doh
