im after a good size winch, over a 4ton 'pull' weight not rolling,

iv had a look around a few web sites and there comming up at over or around £500, i dont really be want to paying this much,

so does any one know where you can get one a little cheaper

yes, not my bull bars, iv had some plates welded across the chassis lol

Nice one, I am gna make somthing up as my lift has made the chassis more accesible, hoping to have a detachable winch i can put on front or back.

iv got a 2 ton 'pull' that attach to the tow bar on the rear,

but thats not good for me stuck in the mud lol

i think my diesel tanks weight that lol

You need at least a 9000lb winch or more, and they will cost you in the region of £500. Anything less will just not pull you out of stuck and end up burning out.

Cheapest on market is called a "come up" and start from about £360 http://www.comeupwinch.com/en/index.php

Try ebay there are 12000lb/5.454 tonne winches on their for much less than that, have head some good reports on them on other forum, they're not up to continued use on winch challenge events but for the occasional pull when you or a friend gets stuck they are perfectly capable.

Cant remember if Ive said all this before but I had a Superwinch EP9 which is the same as the Comeup, not a bad unit for laning and playdays.
Two things to know.
1 The EPi has 25 feet more cable on it than the EP
2 They are high speed winches at 156:1 ratio

I dont know about the 1200lb models but a Britpart 1200lb for example has 250:1,more grunt, more control, less double lining.
Personaly I think the best winch is the Tirfer hand winch

Just found this

Not sure if I'd fit the above to my Y60 though...... as they say, you get what you pay for 8O
