I have a little bit of a problem getting my t2 into gear

I can not get 1st gear right away i have to push it into 3rd and then into 1st to move off:nenau

Gear oil change has not been done could that be it.

I have a similar problem too, sometimes lifting the clutch whilst in nuetral helps as it seems to get everything moving inside the box. Last 2 services the garages have not been able to remove the gearbox drain plug, last time he stuck some additive in from the top which made it better but it's gone back to how it was. This makes me suspect if the oil could be changed it would sort it however both garages wouldn't go any further with the drain plug for fear of breaking the gear box case.

I will take it to the garage and see if they can do an oil change.
Sorry to hear about your problem not a lot you can do if you can't get the drain plug undone :nenau

If you can't get the drain plug out, what about the filler plug.
I know on boats, you can buy a manual pump with a flexible pipe that goes down the dipstick to drain the oil, so I would have thought it could be manoeuvred to the bottom of the box, or you could try a length of thin tube.
The boat pumps take out 1/2 litre at a time.
Worth a thought.

That was a suggestion ages ago and possibly worth thinking about. Only problem I can really see is that all the crud is left at the bottom of the gear box.
Toolbox once suggested to take the car for a good 20 mile run and get it good un hot, then try removing the plug. I might ask the mechanic if he's up for it some time.

you could try and heat gearbox casing with a blow lamp around drain/ filler plug
usually the metal will expand enought to move the plug.
