Had a problem tonight with my X reg 2.7tdi Terrano.

Was driving along when all power just seemed to die.
In neutral and engine would not rev about 2k rpm, and was extremly slow to even reach that!
was still idling ok though.
turned engine off, then back on and all seems to be back to normal.

any ideas?

don't really want this to happen again!!!!!

cheers

chris

If it does it again try disconnecting the air flow meter whilst the problem is there and see if it makes it worse or stays the same. If it stays the same it may well be the culprit.

Exactly what happened to me on the M3 last year, had to be towed off by Green Flag to garage, replaced MAF fault cured.

I replaced the MAF sensor the other week.
I thought that this may be the culprit but before I changed it, to check the other one was broken, I disconnected it completely and it still drove fine.

I wondered whether it might be something other than that.

Perhaps my truck just had a funny 5 minutes!!!!

 when you have the bonnet up you MUST talk to it very nicely  tell her you love her , be affectionate, talk to her, ask her whats wrong baby :?: . Only do this if er-indoors isn't within earshot, otherwise you may get a clip round the ear

Think you need to get on that M4 and clear the old girl out!! 8) 8)

maybe the problem is that I am constantly 'giving her a clear out' everywhere I drive!!

Might just have a look this weekend and pretend to myself I know what I'm looking for.
Wiggle a few wires then umm and arrr a bit. I think that'll probably do the trick.

That's where I've been going wrong -banghead-

Loss of power an inability to rev through the range can also be a sign of a blocked fuel filter - and it may be more of an intermittent symptom than you may first think too.

Not as good as the book though, it was one of King's books that didn't get treated well on the move to the cinema.
