Well after 3 years and 2 months of ownership I sold the Chrysler 300 CRD Estate today.

Loved owning it with its huge presence and huge torque to match but I no longer do the journey work to justify a 3 Litre V6 diesel and now Chrysler have stopped selling new vehicles in the UK it's value was sure to drop in a big way any time soon.

Driving journeys now of less than 2 miles a few days a week would eventually have taken its toll on the DPF's - had to have a new EGR valve last year due to the valve gumming up.

Not got a replacement yet but still looking for "The One" still undecided what to buy but the BMW E46 type 325 SE petrol automatic is favourite at present. Have been talked out of the Lexus IS 2500 by a lad at work that has recently sold his and he reluctantly agreed the Beamer is easier to sell on and if you buy pre-E90 is a good used older vehicle.

Tell me to mind my own if you wish.
Can I ask what you got for her? I ask as my mate drives the saloon version. Very nice car indeed, shame about Mercs involvement :(

I know he'd like to know :thumb2

Mercedes involvement did mean they had good engines & running gear in the 300C with an SL chassis used in the Crossfire !

The wife drives the Grand Cherokee with the Mercedes 5 cylinder diesel engine circa 2005.

My mate wouldn't agree, he's had nothing but trouble & all regarding the engine.
He says "he'd wish he hadn't bought it". Fortunately he's good with the spanners & does all his own repairs. He's never short of work :lol

That surprises me the V6 3 litre engine in the CRD is the one they used to put in the S Class and the unit it is pretty bullet proof.

Only issue that I was made aware of with the Chrysler was the O ring seal on the air intake. I changed mine (both) with every service for the sake of about £12.00.

If they leak then as you may know a very fine mist of oil will eventually drip down onto the small control unit sitting in the V of the engine. This controls the air intake system and when it starts failing this leads to serious gumming up of the intakes and is an expensive fix as you need a pair of new throttle bodies.

I guess the Yanks might not be as good with assembling the engines as the Germans in your mates case.
