Am I correct in thinking that certain other 4x4 wheels will bolt straight on to a Mav?I've got the standard six spokes with 235/75R15 tyres and AVM manual hubs hanging out the front, but fancy wider rims if I can find them at the right price.

Are Shogun/Pajero wheels wider? Are they the same stud pattern & PCD? Is the offset OK? Any recommendations? I don't really go a bundle on the 'aftermarket' look, prefering the look of a 'stock' alloy, if you get my drift (no split rims, etc).

Ta in advance,

Dale

wider wheels

i know paj/shogun rims fit and i think some of the toyota rims fit maybe even isuzu.not sure what issues you would have with the offset and clearing the front brake calipers.
a member called cosmic fitted paj rims but i think he needed spacers aswell to get the clearance.

I seems to vary with different pattern wheels.

As elty say cosmic needed spacers to fit some Pajero wheels, but they didn't seem to have loads of offset cos even with the spacers they're still inside the arches. I put some Pajero wheels straight on no problems as did bigblemaverick but his seemed to have lots of offset. Anything 6 stud and jap based will have the same 139.7mm PCD.

Isuzu, frontera, toyota, mitsi will all fit on the stud pattern. Watch out for wheels with small centres not designed to go over free wheeling hubs. Some hilux seem to be very inset.

Width wise there doesn't seem to be much about thats wider than the std T2/Mav alloys at 7". Some shogun/pajero owners claim theres are 7 1/2" but having measured them its just cos they don't know how to measure rims (On the inside bead to bead not the full width of the rim).

To my knowledge land cruisers are the only thing with a true 8" and even then not all of them.

Do you really want a wider rim? The standard wheels wil take a 10.5" tyre fine, which is about as wide as you can go.

ok paj / shogun wheels fit normaly, you will find the import ones tend to have the wider wheels as the seem to jaz them up but you will either get chrome steels like mine... or nice alloys
often they come with 31" tyres on or there abouts so you might have to play with the torsion bars a little

i often come accross wheels as there is a bloke who breaks them nearby
ive recently sold 3 sets

you can just go for spacers with your skinny wheels that would work they are around 120.00 a set of 4 but if you want the wide tyres you really want shogun / paj wheels
another thing to concider they dont often come in 5s its normally just the 4

the other way is just go for wide steels dont buy white they discolour go silver or black

if you want alloys and not in a hurry say 2-3 weeks pm me your email and number i find some for ya if i can

and no spacers

Hmm...

Food for thought if the others aren't really any wider. I'm not looking to go for huge mud tyres, just something wider but of a very similar (if slightly larger) diameter to correct a little speedo inaccuracy (mine reads 70 at a satnav indicated 66).

its the bigger tyre you want then if you go to 31" tyres you will have to trim a little or play with torsion bars

my 31 /10.5 /15 actually measure 29.5 "
my 32/ 11.5 / 15 actually measure 31"

only just sold some nice alloys on ebay last week did post here too

the wheels are a good place to start the big plan of customising your truck as most other jubs rest on your choice of wheels- tyres

i remember while on the subject if you go for spacers or bigger offset wheels 1.5 " offset = .5 " on full lock

i found it cheeper to find some big offset rims with nice tyres on expect to pay around 200.00 for really nice stuff though

but a nice tyre will cost you 70.00 each anyway
