im thinking of cutting the front arches to get 33" tyres on

has anyone else gone that big - if so what did you do to get em on

i recon half a day trimming will make them fit with a tidy finish

whats the biggest tyres you have on your terrano

im running on standards 235 70 16's. but would like to go a bit bigger..

also do a body and suspention lift.
trouble is that we use multi story carparks.. so will be a vert tight fit!

Hi extreme I've got my wings off now for trimmin:sly
Had a load of grief with last few mavs so going for it this time.
Going to put my 2.9 v6 cosworth in it:sly:sly:sly
Body lift and 33s with spacers and arch extensions like the rally terranos:thumbs
Probably bin back and front bumpers too.
Did you get anywhere with winch bumper and rock sliders?
Cause I'm doing them too mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Bluebull had/has 33" tyres on but they're with a big calmini suspension lift ad a bodylift too. Without a lot of lift I think you're going to need to cut more than just the arch. At the front the issue is with the bulkhead/back of arch which will need cutting out and then welding back in only further back.

Also most 33" tyres are 12.5" wide which causes more probelms, you'll need big offset wheels or spacers so they clear on the inside and this will cause even great clearance issues against the back of the arch on lock - good luck, suspect its going to be a lot of work for what amounts to 1/2" under the diff over what I've got on. TBH if I'd been choosing the size I think I'd have gone for 235/85/16s instead, they're te same height but less issues on lock due to them being narrower, also no issues with needing arches, though I do have a set of defender arches down the side of the house should I decide I want to use em.

PS my 265/75/16s were catching again at the weekend, despite the lift, once I'd give the bushes a bit of abuse. Probably the first time that truck had been properly green laning/off road so the rear bottom arm bush gave a bit and the wheel must have moved bac and it started rubbing again. Got some new poly bushes to o on in the hope that will sort it - now I just need to time to fit em.

Hello Terranosaurus,

is that the bushes for the front bottom wishbones * that you'll be changing ? Do Polybush do a full set for the T2 / Mav ?

Lee.

* You'll have to excuse me if I've called it the wrong name. As my sig says, I am New To Nissan ! :doh:lol:nenau I'm referring to the lower moving "A-frame bit" of the IFS.

Yes thats the one and no not to my knowledge but Milners do most of em separately I think.

Thanks Mate, I've got a small "clonk" that happens sometimes when pulling away on a hill. I think it's one of the ARB bushes, I'll have to investigate further. While there, I was thinking about doing the set.

Lee.

Hiya Guys, I changed my 33's to 305/70/16 BFG MT's, but I have got a 3"BL + 3"SL so I had some room but also had to trim a little but they are great, not to sure what size 305's are in old money but they are slightly taller than what I had before.

305/70/16s work out as 32.8" but few 33"s are actually 33" so can beleive they are a bit bigger than your old ones. Theres a thread on Differs at the moment about how big are 33" KL71s really.

Mine work out 31.8" and measure it too - remoulds seem to always e better for size sometimes even bigger than spec.

you got any pics then bud, would love to see

my 31" at's actually measure 29.5" and i have room to go to 32-33" with my offset. if i trim the arches at 9 o clock on the front.

but as the tyres are going to be quite an expense i only want to buy them the once. the tyre place down here has offered to fit some on, to make sure they fit before i buy. once i have trimmed it.

i guess thats quite lucky. if im really lucky ill get his 33" tyres cheep when he changes his to 35":thumbs

i dont think this year is going to be that good money wise so i wont be body lifting or spending thousands on big spring lifts.

ill be happy at 33's

its as good as most lany's around here and better than some now anyway:thumbs

and lets face it i still have to use this usually 70-80 miles a day

But remember the front wheels pull backwards in 4WD so you don't have as much room between the tyre & arch as it looks

I'm running 31s at the moment(well was before the tree stopped me)and they actually measure 30",but are very square treaded! They are well worn mind you. The ones I'm putting on are Khumo venture M/T and are 285/75/16s, which works out at 32.8" and 11.2" wide theoretically. I've got 60mm spacers to lift the body and HBs super springs to do. So hope with a bit more wind up at the front AND my spacers, I dont need to cut the actual inner bulkhead bit. At the mo just flattened the bottom of the wing and removed mudflap for the 31s. The new setup will be more cut wing below the waist line and huge mud flaps.

Any ideas guys were I could get a set of these large mud flaps, can't find a set anywhere, and will certainly get some new pics on here ASAP of the tyres and stuff
