Current clutch starting to slip (probably got days rather than weeks left) I was told a place in Scotland who would do for £300 - I am in Lincolnshire though!

Do I assume that a £300 all-in clutch (fitted) in not a bone fide one?? I have a Maverick 2.7 TD (diesel of course) LWB 1996 (late "P").

Any ideas?

All suggestions very much appreciated as if I end-up paying £675 as someone else was quoted I will be putting a post up for anyone who has a spare room as "she who must be obeyed" will be evicting me .... (LOL or is it...) - Cheers (deluge me with info you kind people)

well mate as it happens I enquired about aclutch for my T2 and got a surprise Nissan came out to be £125.00 other motorfactors wanted upto £200.00 of course that is only the part I had mine done 18mths ago and paid £450.00

Hi Wilderness

Did you get the cage done on the clutch pedal and is it releasing properly? Is the pedal returning back to the rest position or can you still pull it up with your toe? Does the pedal have clearance when its up?

Suspect that before you blame the clutch as thats how ours was and we were about to go wild at the clutch supplier till we realised the cage was cracked.

Our clutch was £70 plus VAT http://www.milneroffroad.com/TERANNO.HTM
I put a new one in as a matter of course when I fitted Mavs engine to my vehicle.

I paid £196.73 for a clutch kit from Nissan main dealer. but had it fitted while my gearbox was being replaced. am told just to supply and fit clutch kit i would be looking at £500.00

Nissan will charge you in the region of £750 to supply and fit.

Will take 7 hours labour. One of those jobs you need the car lifted well up to get gbox etc out

Ouch I did'nt think it would have cost that much, I hope my 66K clutch last a bit longer as i'm going to have to save up to get it done when it dies  Dose it really take 7 hours to do :? I've never done a clutch on a 4x4 before & I know there is the conection to the front diff to sort out but 7 hours 8O I know it's not the same but when I did the clutch on my capri it took us 1/2 hour to do from start to finish 8)
Sorry if i'm actting dumb, i'm just shocked

Yep,its true what Nissan will charge for a clutch, even though I had no intention of using them to replace the clutch in my wagon when it went, I rang for a qoute, and ws told it would be in the region of £800 8O

I've not used nissan servicing for anything with this car, but my garage uses genuine nissan parts whenever possible.
