whiteish smoke

just noticed on my 02 tdi when starting and driving off getting a fair bit of dirty white smoke.had new diesel pump and know it has no banjo filter.also been getting bit of chav whistle if i accelerate hard you know sounds bit like dump valve.uses no oil smoke stops after 3rd selected so just short burst of smoke.i know your gonna say turbo but i live in hope.

Sounds like air getting into the fuel line.
Have you had a new fuel filter recently?

Check all fuel lines near to the pump.

change last sectionof fulel line to clear..
you can see then if air getting in

had a new fuel tank and fuel lines.so guess whilst weather is warm i should get wife under car to check.

Since the pump is on the engine, it will be "sucking" fuel so sucking in air from the tank and fuel lines, so don't expect to see fuel leakage, but check all connections.

I like Zippy's idea of the clear pipe though, but we really need a pic don't we guys....:nenau

Is the pump brand new, or new to the car?

its shiny new £740 so better be.changed cos the original would cut out when slowing down bit lumpy at 35ish, if revved stationary upto 3k would drop down like a stone and cut out with mil on. it looked like a dirty deep fat fryer inside.think someone ran it on used veg oil strained thro their old grannies gusset.
