I want to convert some cd's to MP3 format, I see there are plenty of free downloads, BUT can anyone recommend one that they have used. :nenau

I don't want to download any old programme in case they introduce spyware or trojans etc.. been there got the "T" shirt.

After all, as they say, "There's no such thing as a free lunch", and I wonder what's in it for them.
Cautious I know..:doh

+1 for Timbo, no need to download anything, just use media player and save the files to your MP3.

Thanks for all the quick replies, so I could try media player first, I need to convert them, put them on to an SD card and then use an FM transmitter to link to the radio, then I can get rid of my portable cd player and cassette converter.
I have an FM transmitter, but it won't work on WAV files.

I'm not expecting fantastic results, but better than having only 1 cd available at a time.

Best regards, Rustic

I ripped some music with it and it did it as mp3. What version are you running and you may have to select it in rip options.

mp3

I assume that u want to play on your car CD player

I use img burn, will play on anything

Well we are up and running, thanks guys for your input, Timbo and Fez you were right I could use media player. :clap :clap

The version on my main PC was able to do it, but not on the small acer net book with Windows 7 starter.

I didn't realise you can convert to MP3 format during the Ripping process.
I was thinking about converting my current files. So I might try the other programs that were also suggested to convert existing music.

In Media player this was what I did, I went to "Rip" then selected "Tools" then "Options" and the MP3 format to use for ripping could be selected.

I stored it on a 4 Gb SD card, and I selected 108 Mhz on the Mav radio, and "status Quo" was playing at full blast.....:doh
The module is only a cheap one, it always starts on track 1, if it works, I might upgrade to a better one.
Changing the Mav Radio is more difficult due to the remote amplifier under the driver's seat.
So this should work in the Picasso as well..:thumb2

I will try itunes at some time, as my son loaded that up a long time back.:thumb2

Brilliant, :thumb2 :thumb2 :thumb2

Thanks guys with the fast response, but mostly for the right information.:clap:clap:clap:clap
Saved me hours of messing about.

Best regards,

Richard

I can now think about removing the portable cd player now, the casette converter, and loads of wiring.
