I've got a 1998 Terrano Touring which is running rough and belching out black smoke on acceleration. I thought i might be a stuck EGR but for the life of me I can't find one on this vehicle. Can anyone clarify this? Maybe the earlier one's had one but not the later models?
Thanks
Don

EGR Valve location

I've looked where the manual says it should be and it's not there so i guess it doesn't have one on this model.
Thanks again

Don't worry - its a common problem and one of the eggspurts will be along shortly to walk you through it! Welcome on board anyway!:thumbs

Hi donaldo

A few months back my audi tdi, was belching out black smoke when putting my foot down, and being gutless, the reason was a split rubber pipe. The only way i found it was by taking off every pipe and flexing them to find the split, areas next to jubale clips are common split areas, as for my egr valve on the audi, i removed it cleaned out 120k of muck out and put it back on.

But a split pipe has a big effect on the engine's performance.

Hope it helps.
