Can anyone tell me where thh fuel pump is in the terrano 2.7 1999?

You do not have a fuel lift pump, the only pump you have is the injection pump this pulls its fuel from the tank.

Thanks.
How much are these to replace ? and where is the best place to get one?

whats wrong with truck fuel injector pumps usally reliable for tonnes of miles

GO back to (air in fuel system post) had car at diesel specialist again still not much more of a conclusion? seem to be no fault codes they think there are two possabilities intermitent problem with fuel pump or electrical fault. to test the pump will cost £600+ , electrical fault could run into thousands as they have no idea where? therefore considering changing fuel pump if not to expensive as i have a mechanic freind that can do it for me! running out of options other than getting rid of car. But i like him and he is amazing to tow with!!

There has been a few on ebay lately & the starting bids were low eg £25 so may be worth a look

600 bit steep to test pump if youve freind wholl remove it for you id have thought £50 to bung on test rigg wold have been ample itd be labour taking it off an refitting even so bit much.if i was onna o to trouble off taking pump off and putting 2nd hand one on tink id rather have mine reckonditioned you could end up wit half knackered 2nd hand one

hi terrance, surely if you are getting air building up in the fuel filter then the problem would be between the fuel tank and the fuel filter? i was getting a similar problem with my mav a few months ago, fuel lines had corroded where one of the clips holds them to the chassis (common fault - over time fuel lines vibrating in the clip causes them to wear plus water and mud causes a tiny hole in pipe ). as the fuel pump draws deisel from the fuel tank it also sucks air in through the pipe, even if its just the size of a pin prick, hence build up of air in fuel filter. cost me £12 to fix, replaced a 1m section of the flow and return pipes with rubber fuel line. i might be totally off the mark, but £12 is a lot cheaper than replacing a fuel pump especially if it isn't the problem.

jace is right. the only time that air gets added to the equation is when it is mixed with the fuel in the cylinder ( big bang, truck moves forward  ) i would start from the back at the fuel tank, checking the fuel sender unit inside the tank, all the seals and fuel pipe up to the filter, then check the seals on the fuel filter housing, then the fuel filter itself. i'm no mechanic, but this is how i would look at it logically. air in the fuel filter must mean that it is getting sucked in from some where?

to be fair ive read his other post poor sods done just about everything and still gets hastle worst thing its not contant so real pain to try find, terence where abouts are you in world if your near me know chap works for lucas in warwick pretty good at finding elusive faults!

Thanks for all your help guys.

Jace, thanks for the offer. Unfortuantely I'm down south in Surrey, I don't think the truck would make it to Warwick :( But any other recommendations for local diesel specialists welcome!

The garage I went to claimed to have checked all of the fuel lines  Although if they just did a quick visual check then it sounds like they wouldn't have picked up on a faulty pipe.

I've already replaced the fuel filter housing so I'm wondering if the next thing is next thing is to just replace the fuel lines anyway? What do you think?

Thanks.

ps. I'm female, Terrance is the name of my truck

do u keep goats then lol, id go for new pipes cheapest items first eh least amount fuel in tank as u can as its gonna leak.

power failure

Hi ~ fitted new maf meter yesterday as problem was getting very bad - problem is intermittent loss of power - thought it was air in fuel line but now believe it is electrical problem. After fitting new maf Terry still had problem it worked for a while with full power then would die so I can only get 1000revs and it would nearly stall. So disconnected maf and it drives like a sick puppy but can get 40+mph and it does not die. Reconnect maf and problem returns. So my assumption is that there is a problem with the electrics between the maf and the electronics - Do you think I'm right in this idea and what would you suggest I do next to try and fix?
