What Tyres do I fit 225/45 R17 91W ?

I am looking at replacing the horrible run flats on my BMW 325 SE petrol with some "Normal Tyres" as I am unlikely to ever wear them out during my ownership of the said vehicle (2k miles p.a.) I want to buy the best ones I can afford.

MY run flats are Nokian they are noisy and give a harsh ride but TBH the steering/feel/grip are pretty good.

My brother has the Michelin Cross Climate XL's on his Volvo Estate and firstly I like the look of them and they are pretty good for wet grip / winter and low noise levels. The old XL version are £105 each and the later XL plus are replacing them at £115 each. It's a shame you can't go to the tyre depot and try different makes on your vehicle before you buy.

I like the Cross Climate but they are at the top end of my budget. My other choice would be Yokahama Advan Sport V105 at £85 each.

My main requirements are low noise and good wet grip anyone got any advice or experience of tyres on a none 4x4 vehicle so I can do some research and look at other options.
I was a fan of Vredestines as I had them on my Mini but they appear to have been left behind a bit by some of the big manufacturers.

All suggestions welcome with any personal experience you may have.

I've had lots of good experiences with Hankook after my dad put me onto them, I've had them on cars and vans and only problem I ever had was slight under steer in the wet on my VW T4 van, but it was always heavily loaded and it only happened when I started to push it. I've had a set of toyo proxes too but I only did about 3-4k on them from new, no complaints though.

Hankook Tyres have heard good reports

I've had a set of toyo proxes too but I only did about 3-4k on them from new, no complaints though.

The Technicians at work seem to mostly buy Hankook that's why I bought a Hankook Battery for my BMW as it was almost half the price of the likes of Varta and came with a 4 year probably worthless warranty. The T&C's mentioned in needed to be 90% charged for warranty to apply !

Currently our car (Seat Leon ST, 225/40 R18 92Y) is on Bridgestone Potenza. No complaints, but once they are worn out they'll be replaced with Pirelli P Zero or Continental Sportcontact.
Current winter tyres are Toyo Snowprox S954; there again next time I'll order Continental Wintercontact.
We do >25k miles / year with that car, skimping on tyres would be a false economy and would definitively not be safe.

For your low mileage, and with focus on wet grip, I'd go for the Crossclimates.

I bit the bullet and ordered a set of the Michelin Cross Climates XL plus today should have them this Wednesday afternoon !

The clincher was when I went out with my brother for lunch yesterday I saw how cool they looked on his V90 Estate. They rminded me a bit of the old Dunlop SP3 treads of yesteryear.

Here is picture of the Cross Climates , much quieter than the run flats but not yet run in so can't comment on what they are like yet. I like to run new tyres in for 100 miles not exceeding 50 mph - I am old school !
