what to choose

hi guys and gals
I will be looking to replace my old frontera and xsara estate later this year and have a dilemma.
what should I go for? Frontera 2.2dti; Terrano II or Xtrail
it needs to be reliable, relatively economical, the family taxi, do the mundane things, be able to tow a reasonable sized caravan(future purchase) and play off road along with possible European trips in the future.
it has to be 2002(age of our xsara, and my wife won't have anything older) or newer, have less than 100k on the clock and be priced between 2k and 4.5k.
Help,advice and suggestions gratefully accepted

From your list the terrano is the only choice:thumbs

Yes i second the above comment. I used to be part of the frontera owners club and the general rule of thumb was avoid the 2.2 like the plague!!! Seriously they are forever going wrong and underpowered... (I'm sure a few good ones exist though) get a terrano the help is endless. :thumb2

I looked into getting a Frontera 2.2dti & found they can suffer a few engine problems mainly down to the tone of sensors they have fitted, Xtrails are very good on fuel & are good for towing but are mainly soft roaders as they only have 4H & not loads of ground clearance. Terrano's will pull nearly any caravan which is why we bought another one as we're planning on getting a caravan, off road I think there great & better than the disco 2 as i've owned both. Fuel wise your looking between 28-32mpg on a run which is better than most TBH shoguns do about 20:doh For the money you have you should pick up a nice tidy motor but TBH i'd say look for one a bit younger than 02 as most will have over 100K on them (ave 10K a year) & that's any motor of that age as they are 12 years old after all but a 100K plus terrano it only just run in:lol

Frontera 2.8 is a good one, really cheap insurance, built like a tank and engine is bulletproof! But try and find a good one..... :nenau
