what sensor is this guys ? ? pics aswell

hi guys what sensor is this ? its infront of the oil filter and i cant find any connector that goes to it ?

can anyone tell me what it is ? the engine is a 2.7 tdi engine

the oil is only from the oil breather that was leaking down onto it

hi briggie as you look at the picture the oil filter is too the right hand side approx 2" away directly below the oil breather thingie.

oil temp sensor ? :nenau....... does yours work ?....... failing that , have a look around within range of the connector . to see if there is a wire with a connector on the end that fits

the banjo you can see in the pic is connected to the back of what the oil filter connects too.

take a pic, of teh hole of that side of teh engine, with an arrow to where the sensor. we can all pop out and have a look..

sorry to have taken so long, been shoppin,, tesco and sainsburt have veggie oil at 98p a ltr.. thought it would be rude not to get 30 ltrs or so...

i seen 1 0f them on my 96 td thought it was oil light switch but that works ok. not looked on the 02 to see if have one.

yep saw them..


but its a close up of a dirty contact,... was thinking of an over all pic..

so i know where to look..

It's just to the left of the oil filter houising.
It's probably oil temp, as there's an oil pressure one on the oil filter housing:thumb2

hi guys if you look directly next to the oild filter you will see the sensor.

if it is an oil temp sensor why is it not connected ?

is there previsions for one as i cant see anywhere on the dash that says oil temp ?

Presumably you have had a good look around for the wiring that should be connected to it. It might have broken off where it leaves the wiring loom or its been tapped out of the way.

The oil temperature light should illuminate when you switch the ignition on to show the bulb is working OK.

No good looking at mine as the R3mR is diffeent. Handbook should show location of the warning light.
