Just changing the alternator and this is wired from positive to ground. I need to replace it as the wire has corroded. Tried to run the new alternator without it but it's producing over 15v and the battery warning light is on.

I'm assuming that its a resister/regulator, but any ideas would help

It’s an old school radio suppressor, don’t think they worked back in the day.

As Jim said it is an old school radio suppressor, nothing to do with you over voltage, if your warning light is on and getting over 15 volts it suggests a bad connection somewhere or the alternator regulator is bad, can you take it back to the supplier and get them to test it? Rick
