Looked in the hand book and it wasnt very clear as to what grade of oil to use.the motor factors gave me 5w 30 which i have fitted will this be ok, as today elsewhere I have seen 15w 40 recomended. also is 6.2 liters the right amount.
5>30 w perfect but i have been told 6 3/4 liters but mine is 95 terrano add 6.2 and check dip stick but remember if you are doing a service add some oil to the oil filter before installtion
I personally think that 5W/30 is to thin for these engines, you may end up with the engine burning it as it is very thin and will lose its lubrication properties at higher temperatures.
and just to add the workshop manual says "Use 5W-30 only below 0°C (32°F)."
I would agree with Toolbox on this one.
5w 30 is far too thin (its more for new technology diesels, common rail fords etc)
15w 40 is spot on,mineral oil will do fine,no real need for semi-synthetic.
Just change it every 6k,as recommended.
i apologise for the oil weight my local motor factors told me 5>30w but at last to save on any damage to my terry i am doing a service in a week or two i will be stepping up the grade i dont service every 5-6000 miles i do it every 3-4 months no matter what mileage i have done
they say you learn something new every day well i have learned my something new for today cheers every body cheers toolbox
