Well took the MAV in today for her 16th birthday MOT and it passed :clap :clap :thumbs
2 very minor advisories, small chip on windscreen, and very slight wear to the edge of the rear seat belt. :thumbs Must be all the stuff I carry from the DIY or tip runs.

I spent some time on it earlier this week to check it over, the only problems were some rust starting within the front lower wish bones. Plenty of metal left, but I would check yours they get full of crud.

I rust treated them, and next week I'll buy some more waxoyl, now I can spend some money on it. Might even replace the LSD Oil again... :thumb2

Total items bought since last MOT.
Rear section of exhaust
New battery
Oil and Filter
Brake and clutch fluid change
Front disk pads
Replace Antifreeze.
Less than £150 less that 2 fuel fill ups.....

It is still on the original suspension components since new, except that every 5 years I have to replace the front drop links on the ARB. :doh

Why do I run a 16 year old car..... That's why. :thumbs :thumbs
I've had it from new, so there is no need to change it.

Now if fuel was cheap, it would be a very cheap mode of transport.

I'm so Happy.... :clap :clap :clap :thumb2

Why do we all worry at MOT Time...:doh :doh

:birthday:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap( did i accidently mention in passing that mine passed with no advisories ? ):augie

Oh... do I remember that....? You may have said..... once or twice....:doh
But my MOT was only £35... as I am a regular customer... ie I go there once a year for an MOT... :nenau
Test took 50 minutes while I waited.

The woman on the phone at the garage was talking to a customer and she phoned her to tell the customer that she had booked it in for a full service and it only needed an interim, thus saving the customer a load of dosh.

Not bad. Acorn Motors, Chase Terrace, Burntwood, Staffs.
Ford , Kia Dealer.

thats awesoem Rustic, I admire your car, and enjoy reading about it, gives me extra confidence to keep running my old cars.

I agree with your point too. Ive always had old cars, because I cant afford new. But the overall cost of running them has always been less than buying new, so im happy. My MX6 is 15 years old, and if it ever fails an MOT (not often) its on somethign and nothing like drop links usually!

Old cars can be as good as new, if you look after them :thumb2

MOT

good glad to hear it:thumb2 just goes to show if you look after what you have got, had to do it all my life and i still pefer older motors that you can still fix without a computor. but i think its a dieing art with the yunger generation, by i am going to get some flact for that last sentence.:augie
just got to get my 1972 Series 3 through mot now then:naughty its off for sale now that i am a converted Terrano owner.Loz
