Well wifeys truck appears to be leaking (like so many others recently) from rear of water pump...its quite a strong leak, so its got to come off.

Three questions:

1. Of the folks that have removed theirs recently, was it a difficult job? Anything need to come out to clear the way?

2. Did the pump always need replacing or is it a gasket reseal as often as not?

3. If new pump required, I've found one for this model (99-plate 2.7TDi pre-facelift) for £69 on fleabay.....any better suggestions?

Cheers m'dears!

If the pumps not making any noise though, might I get away with a gasket and reseal? Or does the leak come from another part of the pump typically that can't be mended?

I paid £35 for my pump , is it worth the hassle in taking it all apart and not replacing the pump ?

summers comming ......

paul just change the pump. then you know your right... you know it makes seance

spooky!

OK I give in. It just looks a pain in the a55 so just need to know how people have found the job? I can pretty much see whats needed from Rossco's download, although his was an older Mistral.....probably a days work for a tit like me....but better than the £300-400 that I know the garage will screw me for, and its an old banger when alls said and done.

The lazy sods in the garage here in Llandovery couldn't even be bothered to look at it (miserable git said "I'd fail it at MoT just for the crack in the windscreen" - four inches at bottom left hand corner) and then had the cheek to see if she'd sell it to him for tuppence....makes my blood boil.

So is it a fairly easy job for a days work?

My garage charged me for 3 hours labour for fitting the pump and a pair of front shocks.:clap

an easy £200 plus then on top of the cost of the pump.....got to be worth me having a pop!

ill fit it for you monday- tuesday for ya,not a bad job.

what time is dadba coming

its an easy enough job not stripping down required, it can be done in 20 mins, my advice change both belts at the same time they are cheap enough and can oftn be the cause of the old pump leaking in the first place!

20 minutes? It takes that long to get the radiator out!

you dont have to take the radiator out to change the water pump! you can do it wothut stripping anything! honest ask robbobone he has witnessed it on hi sold mistral.

but how the hell do you get to the fan bolts then....its like half an inch clearance between it and the rad...

just drill holes throught the rad, simples

then use a socket with an extention on. that work??

:nenau:nenau:nenau:nenau:nenau

:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

Um just read out what ive said above..

Mrs Zippy just said "idiot"

its more than half an inch, i've told you a million times dont exagerate :lol

anyway you just need the right long sockets and stubby ratchet, it is very dooable and the whole thing done and new belts fitted in 20 mins, honest!

I havent looked at one for a couple of years so cant picture the layout perfectly now, but trust me it can be done! they dont call me honest plank for nothing :thumbs
