hello, does anyone know if you can just buy a water pump gasket by its own? i dont want to pay £80 for a new pump. thanks, tom

TBH i'm not sure if you can get them :? You could try nissan our your local car parts shop  The other option would be to make one up, now it's not as hard as it sounds  you can get gasket paper from halfords i think. Once you remove the pump you can place the paper over the mounting surface & very gently tap it with a hammer which will mark/cut the gasket paper to the shape you need  I've in the past even used an old corn flakes packet to make up new gaskets for thermostats & water pump gaskets for mini's

I bought some off ebay similar to http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Flexoid-oil-r...12|39:1|66:3|65:12&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14.l1318
Worth keeping some in the tool box, I also keep some on the boat just in case, good for carburetor and water pump gaskets. Various thicknesses, cuts with a pair of scissors, a craft knife, use Sweety's method for marking out, or you could use tracing paper.
Make sure there is no residue of the previous gasket, and don't scratch the mating surfaces.
There are also several silicon gasket sealants that are supposed to do the same thing.
best regards, Rustic

Are you sure that it's the gasket leaking as often when they start leaking it's more than the gasket, usually the pump on it's way out.
