Hi all, my water pump on my mac is squeezing like a pig and slightly leaking. Poped down motor factors on my lunch break and picked up a new one and some antifreeze, going to attempt it after work tonight. I've had a look in the download section and there's a guide on doing it on the 2.7 diesel but not the 2.4 petrol. Is it a nice job to do? Also how much antifreeze do I put in after I fill it back up? Cheers . Daz

Depends on how much water u loose I always put in 50 % water and 50% anti freeze

Well I did a 50/50 mix but I was told after a full drain the system would take 5-7 litres of coolant, I put in that amount and nearly overheated the car!!!!!

It took nearly 15 litres in the end!!!!!!!

Quite a straight forward job longest job is getting the rad out of the way..Think i used about 4 litres of anti frezze on my 2.7 maverick

Cheers Gav

Would have thought you can do the petrol with rad in position as the viscous coupling unbolts should be enough room then to get the pump off

Hi all, thanks for the replys. Fitted it last night and was pleased how easy it was once the rad was out the way. Going to get a new belt today as the old one looked slightly knackered so might as well do them in one go. I wouldn't have attempted this before joining the club but I know if it all went wrong someone would be able to help :)

all ok now then ? ..... no overheating ?

Did you leave the Rad cowling off?

I got the angle grinder out last night on mine and it's probs the best mod I've done on the truck lol

I could easily do the Water Pump without taking the rad out now!!! lol

Yeah I left the cowling on, undid the viscous fan then left the bottom hose on the rad and just moved it enough so I could get to the water pump, I've never done anything like this before so might have gone the long way round doing things but have sved a few quid.. Just gotta pop a new belt on tonight and it should be all sorted :)
