Hi Guys,

Someone posted on here that if you remove the black plastic valance beneath the wiper arms then you can access a nearside coverplate which allows water down into the passenger footwell via the heater blower.

Just thought I'd ask for advice on how best to remove those plastic pins that hold the valance in place? Do they just pull out? I don't want to break them and them find I've nothing to replace them with.

Any help appreciated - mines a 98SWB Maverick by the way.

I'm not sure about a cover plate, not seen one, but you're just as likely to find a large rusty hole that lets the water in. That I DID find. :doh

Can't remember the pins tho - you had to remove the wiper arms completely (lever them off) and just prise the thing off as I recall....

Hi Geordie
On my '96 T2 there are three or four self-tappers at the top of the plastic valance and five or six push-fit plastic pins securing the rubber strip and bottom section of the valance. Just use a screwdriver and/or a pair of pliers to lift and pull them out. I'm not saying they won't break but they're not exactly an expensive high-tech irreplaceable item. If needed you could always replace them with a fat self-tapper.
