Hi all

Have a slight problem with water ending up inside the footwells at the front, esp when parked on a hill and stationary in heavyish rain. Have a 1995 LWB 2.7TD Maverick.

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and what it was.

checked windscreen there are a few small gaps at the edges, but nothing major . Air vent ? a posssibility or holes under the seal at back of bonnet?

Hi roxy.
Not an uncommon problem. I had a lengthy period with a wet passenger footwell and went " through the hoops" to find cause and cure.
I recommend that you do a search through forums about water in footwells etc to read about what I and others discovered and did. I think you would find them useful .
Main thing I learned was not to be too hasty regarding suspicions about leaking heater or air con matrix problems.
If , after browsing the info on site, you would like further help / info feel free to PM or email and I'll try to remember it all.
PS; I realise you have a Mav and mine is a Terrano but the water ingress problems are basically the same.

As Chaster said, he had a leaking heater matrix problem. Also there are two other causes that spring to mind and as he says are in other threads.

Bottom of the wings, a drian hole gets blocked with mud build up, open the dor and look at the gap between the wing and door pillar below bottom hinge area (both sides). Squirt a hose through there to remove this muck.

Below windscreen there is a plastic grill type panel on the outside. Remove this panel and at the passenger side there is an inspection panel. Remove panel and seal with an automotive silicone type sealer.

Hi Jim.
No, not guilty M'lud ; t'was not me with leaky matrix ( thank goodness ) but I did have a built-in footbath for my better half.

I get a dribble of condensation from the AC in there too occasionaly, either that or wife isn't telling the truth
Sorry Chaster, there was someone recently that turned out to be their heater matrix.

Jim
