Getting to grips with the Maverick, the screen washer had me scratching my head. Pulling the wiper lever towards me, nothing happened, but turn the rear wash/wipe switch and the front screen washers dribbled a bit, and the rear wiper operated. Delving under the bonnet I found the hoses had been switched at the pumps, front to back, the front pump being dead.
The pipes and jets were gunged up due to the washer tank being full of flaky c**p so a few watering cans of water flushed it out over the top. Once clear and with a bit of poking of the jets, the front washers worked fine (off the rear pump) A new replacement pump + hose £6.50 with free delivery on ebay (Item number: 300527014065) dropped straight into the slot with no adjustments needed, connectors fitted too but vertical not horizontal, now the front washer works perfectly off the correct switch. More poking and blasts of air cleared the rear wash. I'm getting to be quite the mechanic thesedays.

Repair cost to date.
£15 front wing.

phnar, forgot about the Bud :lol
Top tip for screen washers, I use a small ultra cheap fuel filter in line to the squirters. This stops any crud blocking the jets in future :D

That's a good idea, I normally undo the pipe in the nozzle, and back wash with an old printer ink syringe, with water not ink of course. :doh

When this fix failed, I realised that the ball bearing in the nozzle that acts as a one way valve had failed in the housing, so I removed the bits from the nozzle, then realised that this valve didn't affect the washers in any way, I was going to fit an in line valve but now have this as a spare.

At least the nozzles are heated from below by the engine. On the Picasso they are on the plastic trim, and they freeze fairly quickly, so one day I might get around to fit a suitable resistor to the side so that when on 12 volts it will heat up and thaw out the nozzle.. :augie :augie One day...:doh
