Hi guys. The wife tells me the mirror gets blown round by the wind!
Took it apart today and the cast alloy tube that the mirror pivots on has shattered, so need another.
Cheers.

Don't believe it. Now found one on the bay which is complete and the correct colour so I now bought it.
This post can be deleted if needed.
Cheers.

Should be outside fitting a new to me mirror but now stumbled across a program on DMAX+1 called Rides. Crazy Americans with huge off roaders.
I'll fit my mirror after. :D

Job done. Here's how easy this was.
Selection of tools needed. uploadfromtaptalk1443779378927.jpg

Ping out/off the screw covers (small screwdriver). 2 in the handle and 2 on the front edge of the door panel and remove the door release surround (flat screwdriver) then remove the screws ( cross head screwdriver)
Unclip the door panel at the bottom and the front edge. I eased them out by gently pulling.
You can then lift off the panel from the door.

Remove the small speaker plate revealing the 3 bolts holding the mirror on.
Unplug the mirror electrics and unclip the wire from the door.
Remove the 3 bolts (cross head screwdriver) you may need to loosen the bolts with a 10mm spanner. I also use a small magnet to stop the screws/bolts disappearing for ever!
You can then remove the mirror from the outside. There is a rubber peg at the top point of the mirror surround which should stop the mirror falling off.
Feed the wire through the door.uploadfromtaptalk1443780395989.jpg

Reassembly is the opposite and takes only a few minutes.
You can see in this photo which part broke. I would say it was another supermarket car park ding. Probably someone knocking the mirror round squeezing past as there is no impact damage on the back, and it was the only place the truck had been..... we'll never know.

Now the next question. Do I put the old mirror that works perfectly(electrics) and has a good lens in a box and keep it or throw out. :what:
