that will keep going im sure. electric fan might short and then you over heat..
unless some one know better...

Hi george
mines had water up to the door handles and came through o.k. why would it stall? low box 2nd gear away you go plenty revs no problems:)

As others have said George, not necessary. Folks who have taken them off and installed electric have found they overheated on towing and had to put the original one back again....

Toolbox will no doubt amble along and explain the working principle but its not liable to be affected by a bit of wading as far as I know....

Some people are worried about the blades being pulled into the rad when they drive through water and the mess that is made in the engine compartment:nenau but I've not read of anyone having serious issues when going through water.

I made enquiries with kenlowe a few years back and the cash they wanted was a joke. Best bit was when they said if towing in hotter countries refit original fan:eek:

It would take about 10 yrs to recoup the outlay on the fan on the fuel they claim you'd save:eek:

Sounds a bit of an urban myth to me Jocky... I think you'd find that the enormous drag on the fan under water would just slow it down and cause the belt to slip...

Totaly agree, thats why my trol and T2 still have, had original fans.:thumb2

What I said is what GeorgeA was thinking, I think!!!!!!!!!

There were a few threads on this a while back with electric fans pulled from whatever car to replace the viscious fan, due to peeps being worried about rad damage.

:)

I've known this happen, but we're talking engine transplanted V8 land rovers with big nasty cheap home made fans. Doesn't do much more than chew holes in the rad, but still results in the rad leaking a lot. AFAIK on the T2 the gap between rad & fan is much too big for this to happen.

That I can believe, especially with a home-made fan made out of bendy shite being cranked along by a V8.....I think the viscous drive on these would almost work in reverse here and allow water pressure to slow it down far more than it might an electric....

its pretty simple really the fan is driven by a 100+ hp motor and moves some serious air when locked no kenlowe on earth will do half of the oe fan in cfm
