Any reason for cutting the belt? couldn't you have slackened the adjuster, and removed the belt. Or was it trapped behind the others?
 
If the clutch on AC compressor seizes on then the system over pressurises and belt will slip/smoke/break, you cannot remove the belt without removing the other two first, I might have a working AC compressor Alex, Rick
