At present svo oil in tesco is £2.95 for 3 litres or asda £2.94. At 98.3p a litre thats quite a saving?

That is exactly 35p less than i paid for diesel yesterday.

Cant understand the attitude of the cant be bothered brigade. Is a T2 tank around 65litres? because my maths makes that a saving of over £22 a tank or £1.57 a gallon in old money.

Faultless :thumb2

15 ltrs of rip off diesel £139.9 ltr. but it aint happy without heaters. runs ok but lumpy as f*** on tick over.my 03 navara ran on near cneat cookin for 2 years with heaters no problems, unless seriously cold.

just been sent some £7.50 vouchers off if i spend £50. in store so how much doies that work out at per ltr if i buy £50 worth:clap

I know we've said it before on other SVO threads but its well known that using SVO will expose any inherent performance issues so your engine needs to be running properly before you start using it.

I've had it in three Terranos now and apart from a few seconds of lumpy running when you start up in very cold weather with a high concentration of SVO, they all ran perfectly with no heaters or any other modification. If you have lumpy tickover when the engine is warm then something else thats probably not very apparent on straight diesel is wrong....but should be one of the usual suspects, filters, water etc..

I am currently running at about 25% SVO (a 20 ltr can per tank) and it works fine in my 2002 TDi so will try 'upping' the SVO next fill up

I can't be bothered to work out the maths LOL but remember a refill is normally around 60-65 litres so thats actually around 30-35% dilution for the refill alone, and every time you do that the average in the tank will creep closer to that 30-35% figure as the remaining 15-20 litres gets re-diluted. This time of year I'd stick around 30 litres at a time and up it a bit more in summer if you're minded.

Hi everyone, I have just been to Asda and bought the last five bottles of their veggie oil, I had planned to buy ten but someone had got out of bed earlier than me and almost cleared the shelf. When I brought it home and put it into my store I noticed that there was a different colour than my stock of Asda veggie oil. A look at the labels showed that one said

asda vegetable oil and the other said asda pure vegetable oil and had the V for vegetarians,
looking closely at the label it said that it was made from rapeseed oil. I will now need to do the freezer test to see if it suitable for very cold weather which the sun flower oil I had tested earlier in the winter wasn't.

i do 40lts oil to 2 lts of diesel, 100% oil in summer..

saved £334 since i started in May last year

Ok Thikko alert

Been reading these threads for a while and decided to take the plunge,
Questions:
Can i add veg oil straight into the tank without doing antyhing else to the car?
What ratio of oil to derv is recommened?
Will i need to change filters sooner or is that just with bio?
Any veg oils to avoid?
Anything to watch out for once i start using it, abit concered about cold starting reports, i'm out most mornings at 5am.
Sorry for the long winded post, just want to be sure to do it right.
thanks in advance:clap:bow

SVO can be added straightg into your tank simples :D
To start with just go 50/50 then you'll have no probs with starting ASSUMING your glow plugs are ok:thumbs
In my case I used to run neat veggie oil when it was on offer last year at about 55p a litre, never had any grief at all.
I dont think SVO should affect your filters, but Bio defo does:rolleyes:
Enjoy:cool:

But two things Bri, (i) rapeseed is supposed to be the best, and (ii) repeat your freezer test with 50% diesel and let us know what happens.....
