Hi all' I'm running the terrano on veg with 10% petrol. Normally I chuck the veg in then pop into the garage for the unleaded but in the last few weeks I've managed to block two fuel filters and had to replace them so my question to you is would I be better off mixing the petrol in with the veg before I put it in ???? How do you boys do yours. :nenau. Thanks again

40 Ltrs veg, then drive round garage and bang a Tenners worth of unleaded in it

not used petrol.

vegging first, then finish off with dino diesel

never had a filter block

Thanks mate wouldn't that work out to be more than 10% my mate said unleaded in a diesel could dry out the ip ??? I'm scared

20% petrol is fine/better in my experience

You'll never ever dry out the pump at that ratio lol

When I run on veg I just use a 50/50 mix haven't had any problems with filters blocking up..

Cheers Gav

What's Dino diesel when it's at home lol

Dinodiesel, it's just whats it's known as in the trade to veg users.

It's a bit of a joke in that Diesel is made from hundreds of thousands of years old algae that has been compressed and among all of that there must be the remains of Dinosaurs :lol

I think it was just used for alliteration purposes really buy hey ho there you go :thumb2

Used petrol for a while, but then I swapped to this method instead. Even though any possible wear would be very very slow, the injectors and fuel pump are designed to be lubricated with oil (diesel) and petrol does the opposite.

No filter block yet either. You must have some muck in the tank? :nenau

i mix mine in a 30 litre barrel petrol in first then bung the veg in and give it a shake and leave for a few days giving it a shake each day if i remeber then it goes in the tank

your pump can take upto 20% petrol/veg mix no problems

And injectors?

And also the seals are meant to be lubricated too no?

(I am more curious than anything else) but everyone has been steering me against using petrol. :nenau for the sake of a few pence per litre I'm using diesel with the veg (if i need to - running neat atm)

veg oil is reputed to clear out the crap in your system, all bits of crud that have sat happily for years are loosened by the oil, my old vw had a lot of miles on the clock and i changed filters every 500,1000,1500 etc just to be on safe side. ive had no problems with blocked filter on terry touch wood.
i would be as bold to say most leaks reported after using veg oil is merely crusty old crap being displaced, more than likely would leak on straight diesel sooner or later?
are you sure its the filter and not a vacumm forming due to thicker mix? try it with fuel cap off,or loose...

Funny you should say that last night when I removed the cap I could hear a whoosh noise but don't know if it was a vacuum or pressure in the tank coming out

Try running with the filler cap off
Banshee had a problem with his vent, no cap, sorted.

i think there is a breather pipe from your tank. you could always drill a tiny breather hole in the cap or run with it slightly loose first to test if it is a breather issue? tho please do not do this with anywhere near a full tank as diesel/veg oil on the road is not good for motorcyclists
