I have a leak on the vacuum pump of Terrano II 2.7TDI, 00. Pump seems to be working fine but looks like o-ring is gone. Anyone have a spare o-ring hanging around that they might like to donate to a worthy cause.

After making some further enquiries I see my original post was not very clever. Found out that I could get the seals/o-rings for a few euro from the dealer and didn't need to get the pump as well just to get seals so I'm not surprised there was no replies. But I have a more sensible question now I think. Can anyone tell me is it a difficult job to take off the vacuum pump and replace the seals and refit the pump. My Dad is a retired mechanic and is reluctant to go at it as he thinks it might be tricky and messy. Any advice?

Just curious about what you mean by the vacuum pump daniel? pics or more detailed explanation?

or is it some kind of penis enlarger?

Sorry, I don't have a picture but there is a diagram in the service manual for the 2.7 TDI in Section BR-23. It is a pump for the brakes and is located on the lower front drivers side of the engine, close to the oil pan. (Couldn't copy and paste the diagram from the manual). If you don't have the manual a link for it is given by zippy656 in the recent post AC Belt.

Interesting - don't think we've ever heard any complaints about that item before, unless someone is about to correct me as usual!?

For an update after the weekend--we took off radiator, radiator cover, fan, belts, timing gear cover, some pipes and hoses and removed the vacuum pump. This was a bit awkard but nothing too serious. Got tricky when taking the pump apart though to change the o-rings inside the pump. Then found out that set of seals and gaskets got from the nissan dealer didn't include the o-rings for inside the pump. Had to abandon job until dealer opened again Monday. Dealer told me monday they have no listing for inside o-rings so would probably mean getting a new pump. Eventually got o-rings from an agricultural hydraulic supply shop to fit. So 5pm Monday evening started putting pump back together only for pump casing to crack when pressing it together. It's now Tuesday morning and I'm hunting around for a used vaccum pump. Should have one located by lunch time.

Re "O" rings, worth getting a kit of "O" rings from Aldi or Lidl, They come in either imperial or metric, sizes from 3mm up to 40mm diameter various thicknesses as well. Less than £5 for a box.
I've used them on the car, around the house and on the boat.
Problem is they are not always on sale so sign up to their news letter.
Regards, Rustic

Bad luck Daniel - lifes a bitch sometimes, especially when you own a T2, but hope it all ends happily...

Got a used vacuum pump for E 50.00. Won't need to take this one apart so shouldn't break it. Will let you know if it all ends happily.

Vacuum pump put back in and leak seems to have stopped. Now have to change some of the rubber bushes / spacers on the steering assembly where the leaking oil had destroyed them over time. That seems to be a simple enough job though so all should end well this time.
