vacuum/oil thingy

what is this thing and what does it do? fount it on my terrano covered in oil so thought id give it a clean, i thought it was possibly something to to with a vacuum but the amount of oil that's over it, im not sure. has a multi pin connector going in to it and was where the air-box used to be

Isn't it the egr and throttle flap control ?

If so I've done away with egr and throttle flap, so just blanked it off

aye, well my egr has been blocked off, do you get muck improvement without a throttle flap?
