OK so got up this morning & found my truck had been hit last night, No note. must have been a large truck backed into it cause all the damage is above the bumper.

Main question is: the front cross member (arrowed) has been pushed back see 2nd pic, can this be easily replaced if I can get hold of one

Rads look ok, but will need; bonnet, n/s wing, headlights, grill.

ps. ignore my footer now have lots to do. :doh

Bugger

If it was me I would try and see if I could pull it back into shape with a winch, Bit crude but does work.

A body shop should be able to do it with better more precise tools.

I'd just replace the bonnet.

Trouble is can't drive it at the mo. The Rad & fan might get damaged

Just taking some measurements see how far that member has moved, hope you can help with that?

im pretty sure that part is bolt on, ask Rick, he is breaking a few right now.

I have headlights and grille if you are interested mate

I'd take some measurements of mine but worried there may be subtle differences as some components may have been moved, changed etc

You'd be better off waiting for someone with another '96 to turn up

Cheers see my next post for info

the 2 brackets which hold the rad in place seem to be the easiest to measure from.

if someone could measure from the bulkhead to the front of the curved bracket, on the bulkhead there is a strengthening lip, so I measure from underneath that to the very front edge of rad mount bracket, gave a straight line!

n/s is 687mm
o/s is 694mm

I'd pop the plastic bits off and tie a rope round the cross bar using a suitable bit of wood to spread the load. Tie the other end to a lamp post or similar and reverse slowly. You need to go past the original position mind so it will settle back in place :D

I can't measure from them as I don't have them (removed previously) :lol

Mines a 99, and it is 707mm O/S and 706mm N/S,

I would imagine that the difference is just the play in the fixing holes on mine and they are pretty much the same distance normally.

So sorry, I must admit, I felt really sick to see that someone could do that, and drive off.

Thanks that should help , we are pretty sure who the culprit is. But proving it is something else entirely

If your N/S wing only has the small dent and the rest of it is fine...no major rust around the arch, I would get it filled.
Sorry to hear about it though :(

wing is minor compaired to the rest dented and has a hole through it now, the wing was in pretty good condition so is repairable,

main thing is to get the front straightened as my lights are well out of alignment, n/s light completely gone but the o/s looks ok accept for where the cover clips on

Sorry to hear about your truck, if you are fairly certain that you know who it is, then involving the police might pick up paint on the other vehicle.
A crime has been committed.

They might claim that you ran into them, but surely there would be some evidence on the road that showed that your vehicle was actually stationary at the time of the impact. :nenau

Already contacted police. won't get involved without proof ie someone saw the actual impact
