does anyone know where I can buy the uprated bushes for a t2 engine code td27i . my drivers tyres has worn very thin on the inside edge . I know I can get the ball joints from milners . but if I am going to change the bushes I would like to put the uprated one in

what bushes do you mean and have you checked the tracking, Rick

Also depends on intended use ? For offroading the polybushes are too stiff and fight against flex.
On road stuff fine :thumbs
Tyre wear though indicates ball joints and camber issues first off

well I have been looking on here about tyre wear on the inside and I wanted to change the upper and lower wishbone and the ball joints and track rods then get my new tyres and get a full wheel alignment . some people say its the track rod and other say the wishbone's and ball joints

Polybushes

I found Orange Polybushes from Milners OR incredibly harsh for road use and they transmit noise big style.

Out of the 8 bushes in the back suspension of my r3mR I had to change the 4 in the long rear arms back to Nissan Ones as bone shaker does not begin to describe the ride. I am sure that's why some of my teeth fillings fell out !

I left Polybushes in the two short upper axle link arms and they held the rear axle nice and tight - just heard a lot of noise from the rear axle area but got used to it after a while.

What people like about Polybushes is the price, durability and they are so easy to fit. No press required.

Most times on a standard road going motor with no suspension mods it will be tracking, tyre wear on the inside indicates toe out too much, but bear in mind it may have been corrected but your tyres will still wear excessively on the inside you cannot stop this, once a tyre has a smaller rolling radius on one part it will scrub due to that size difference, even if you put it on the rear, Rick

Rick is right steering geometry is well complicated what with castor, camber, King Pin Inclination and not forgetting the effects of wheel inset and offset.

I still think the old palm test across the flat of the tyre works and is a good indicator of front suspension condition.
You know the one where you hold the palm of your hand out with fingers extended straight and together as though it was a nice smoothing block.

With your fingers at 90 deg to the wheel slide your palm across the tyre towards the inner wing and then pull it back slowly. If you feel a "file effect" in either direction then the tracking is out.
If you then move your palm clockwise and anti-clockwise round the tyre again it should be smooth. A small file effect on this latter test is often due to either a heavy right foot on brakes or throttle. A lumpy feel is usually worn shockers or fast driving over poor surfaces.

that is a very interesting rule, unfortunately does not work for me, hands far too rough and hard, must try and get the wife to do it for me though, but I do see exactly where you are coming from, Rick

Rough hands you beast ?

Try some Vaseline on your hands before you start then !!!

Afterward wife will enjoy TLC !

To sound of Fairy advert "Now hands that do dishes will soft as your ??"

I'm glad you've said that as I've just got back from the isle of man and my compression rod polybushes are creaking like an old rocking chair!!!!!
