So I've removed the Control Arms from the 3 litre and it appears that all of the shims that I removed from between where they bolt onto the chassis were all of differing thicknesses :/

I've been tidying up in the garage and boxing stuff up that I'm not going to need now until I move into the new house and in doing so I've moved the shims and mixed them up and can't remember which pile was for which side :doh

Is there a rudimental way I can work out what I need for where without having to refit and trial and error with laser tracking down at the tyre place?

Does the workshop manual document this?

There is a section in the manual that gives you a chart to work out what size shim you need but it's not the simplest to get your head round.
Also the castor angle is adjusted with the shims which is not as easy to do without the proper equipment.
When I completely remove my upper control arms I mark up the bolts and shims so know exactly where they go back together.
I made a simple camber gauge out of a bit of box section with a spirit level on it that fastened onto the wheel.
Only any good if the ground you are working on is perfectly level.

I've been having a look for aftermarket arms, I've joined the npora forum 'cos as far as I can figure our terrys share the wd21 pathfinder chassis so I thought it would be a good place to seek answers. If I come across any relevent info I will let you know. I found a nice pic though
nissan-superlift-pathfinder-SUP6065-600x600.jpg, supposed to be for a 2 lifted truck :thumb2

Cheers for the replies boys, I think I've sussed it out now looking at the pile again now, PHEW

I like those arms though Doug :naughty

What kind of price are those and what are they made from? Or do you not have that info?

Them arms look like the rough country ones but i don't think they are available anymore:nenau

Without physically seeing them it's hard to say.
Usually if they are designed for lifted trucks they are also longer to correct the camber.

Yeh makes sense, nobody seems to do much with the lowers though, mucho reasearch needed, I feel like buying a used lower and upper arm and making a jig on a bench, I feel its the only way to really wrap me head round it, that will have to be in the future though, I found this pic for the meantime:lol

Never came across an uprated lower either.
