HI
my garage up and over door is to low to get the Disco in so am going to take it off .does anyone know how to remove it .
starting by taking the pressure / tension off "raising rod thing".
Thinking of converting door into swing doors .(just cut the door in half mount some cross braces and stable door type hinges.

put a chain around it..

other end on the disco.

drive off

that will work!

um sorry no idea realy

Do you have spring tensioners on the tilt door, if so you should be able to slacken them off while the door is in the least tension position (watch the spring gaps spacing, more closed up the less tension)
Have a look at the bottom of the spring and they should be a screw plate and a bolt on the underside.

Unwind it slowly and just keep checking the tension and don't have anything near in the personal nature just in case you unwind it to far and it springs up and get you.

hi rossco.
job done opened door fully got a hook into loop on end of boden cable and pulled it clear of attachment.
Door just lifts in and out for now and is still secure :p
have mesured up and am 1" to low to get Disco in so will lower tyre pressures and should just get in.
failing that its out with the saw and cut the cross spar out .
i refuze to work out side when ive got a nice warm garage to play in.
:p

ps tale of whoe to be put in Ians Disco post after tea.

Try putting the disco in low and drive hard into the garage either you'll end up with a soft top or a larger doorway

yes... close it, lock it then unbolt the sides you should be able to lift out then all in one.

two adults of med - week strength required to lift so not heavy at all

if you cut the door it will become very flimsy and will never sit right

a new barn door in nice timber 400 fitted

a cheep one with 4x2 frame and 1/2 inch plywood covering both sides
( very strong ) can be painted or stained ... 300 fitted + locks

standard single door prices

HI EXTREME 4X4 .
I just grabbed hold and pulled door came out ok.
then kicked it back in.
am going to build timber frames onto back of door then run jigsaw straight ish up the middle .
ive got 2" box section to make extra door frame going to coach bolt wooden door frame to carry swing doors.

that will do it 3x2 would be more ridged
you can get 3x2 tantalized cls in b & q. you will find good quality strong t hinges there too get the bigest strongest ones

has a think the box section is heavy duty 1/4" thick came from a site gate
had to cut it into pieces with a still saw. so it would fit in back of Disco out of site of the security man .
mind you he scratched his head a bit when he went to close it.
