Unable to get low ratio

Hi peeps,

I noticed the other day that I am unable to get low ratio. 4x4 in high ratio is fine but I just can't get the low ratio lever back. The lever push down works but it seems mecanically blocked from pulling the lever back into low ratio. No amount of dropping the clutch and fiddling with the gears has fixed it.

Thankfully the truck drops out of 4H to 2H no problem.

Any ideas?

Low box fulcrum has seized on its shaft, you need to get under and spray it with easing oil after gaining access to the rubber boot that should be covering it, that is why it is important to select these little used gears on a regular basis to keep them free, Rick

Will give it a go. By 'under' I guess you mean crawling around on the driveway and not just gettiing under the gearstick boot.

Yes on your back, I think you could do it from above but all the centre console needs to come out, Rick
