UK - EU T2 pricing hike ????

Hi from France and a very merry Christmas to all.

Can anyone suggest why a T2 in the UK is so much cheaper than the same truck in France?

For example an '03 2.7 T2 on French eBay Classified ads is averaging at 10,000 Euros when the same T2 on U.K. Auto Trader is averaging at under 5 thousand pounds. The pound (sadly) being almost equal to the Euro!! I believe they're all made in Spain (?), so why the huge void? Beats me!

If anyone knows of a good LHD, T2 diesel, lwb, under 5y, old going for a reasonable 'UK style' price, I'd be interested!

Income tax, I understand, is lower in France than UK BUT VAT is higher 19.6%!

There is no vehicle tax and there is no anti-4X4 lobby that I'm aware of. Bearing in mind that France is strong a farming/rural life country and where I live game hunting is a way of life!!!
