Hi Guys,
the rubber on my Mav is wearing a wee bit thin, especially on the back so I plan to buy some new tyres in time for the winter. It currently rides on 215/R15 a/t on the standard Ford Maverick GLX alloys.

Does anyone know what the maximum width of tyre I can fit on my wheels? Say would a set of 235/70 fit or similar? I dont want to really go up a lot in height as I dont want to throw my gearing out too much, but fancy a bit more aggressive look than pokey little 215/15s

Second question - anoyne got a bargain set of tyres for me? :thumbs :D

Thanks for that!

Been offered a set of 5 Goodyear Wranglers (part worn, 80% left) 235/75/15 for just £60... hard to say no really!

Anyone noticed a change in gearing when going up to 235/75???

Cant comment on petrol but the bigger tyre on the Mk1 the more gutless they are, the smaller then better acceleration :thumbs

235 75 15 is a direct replacment, I have done it, it should make no difference at all! most t2 tyre placards show pressures for this size tyre as well as the older 215 80 15, go for it!

i has 235 75 on 15's on now back to 235 70 16's i cant tell the diference. only that the 235 75 15 are a TAD smaller, ( my wheel cover was to big to fit )
